Hi

I acquired a (Taito?) cocktail cabinet several years ago from a skip and have since been tinkering with it off and on.
I beleive it originally contained Space Invaders but some numpty has butchered the innards to replace the Jamma with Konami's FLAK ATTACK. It works, just about, but I would very much like to replace the old CRT with a new flat screen & neo geo. Any advice anyone could give would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance

:)

Well, Flak Attack is JAMMA, so all you have to do is buy a Neo Geo 1-slot board (not the multislots, those aren't JAMMA) and plug it in. You'll have to add some pins for the extra controls though, and add some buttons. And rotate the monitor 90 degrees. (No, you can't use an LCD, not easily anyway) And, you're going to have one heck of a problem playing Neo Geo games on a cocktail - as far as I know there is no cocktail mode for Neo, expecially since 90% of the Neo Geo library are two player fighting games, which would require both players to be on the same side of the screen...

Basically, sell the Taito cabinet, and buy an upright Neo, or at least an upright cabinet that would be more conducive to being a Neo Geo.

Yea what retrohacker said.

Neogeo games are all horizontal, so you simply can't play them on a vertical oriented cocktail. There probably isn't room to rotate the monitor and installing an LCD will be ugly and a pain in the butt as you'll need a video converter.

For the price you'll pay to adapt this to run a neogeo you could buy a full neogeo cab that already works fine, I see them with multislot boards in good working condition for about $300. It will be a lot less of a hassle.
