Sorry this will be long, I tried everything I could before asking for help. I searched all over KLOV and the internet but I have been unable to get this to work. I am mostly a pinball guy and I don't know alot about arcade monitors. but decided to pickup an arcade as this was a favorite from my childhood but it's been a nightmare.

I have the 19" MatsuSHITa monitor that I believe is original. It came with the game when I bought it.

It worked great for about a week and then one day I turned it on, it booted and something went FZZZT and the monitor went black. A fuse blew in the chassis, I replaced it and turned it on again and I watched an arch come out of the flyback and turned it off.

I took the monitor to a friend who works on these and he replaced the flyback and the HOT and he was unable to get the monitor to work. He said one of the sand resistors on the chassis would get hot and smoke and he wasn't sure where to go from there.

I took the monitor to an arcade shop in town. He took one look at it and handed me a BGS-8220 VGA conversion board and told me not to waste my time with this monitor.

The game plays blind but I have been unable to get this adapter board to work. I have tried just about every combination of wires to each of the 2 inputs.

I had the best results using the 8 pin RGBS input (P11) - pic attached.

Using the attached schematic I connected to Brown-White wire to pin S on P11 and RGB to their respective pins.

I am using +5V and -5V from the J7 on the AR-II board. I have continuity from the ground pin on P11 and -5V on the 2 pin 5V in connector. There doesn't seem to be a difference if I run -5V to the P11 ground.

The input is auto detected when I turn the game on but it looks like the attached picture RGBS-Start.jpg.

I have tried connecting the HS and VS wires together but the picture looks worse.

When I do get a picture, it's static and does not change unless I cycle through the inputs on the GBS-8220 SW button until I get back to the RGBS input and then I will get a different screen frame, but it does not change. Pics included.

I bought this game about 6-8 months ago, played it about 10 times and have been trying to get it working again ever since (or waiting on attempted repairs).

Any help or assistance would be appreciated.

I am currently outputting from the board over the Db15 connector over VGA to a 19" LCD monitor. Changing the resolution does not seem to make a difference, I get the same static output as above (screen does not change but I can start the game and hear it playing).

Also of note is I'm pulling the signals off the connector wires that went to the original monitor.

Thanks again.

You should not be using -5 for that converter. +5 and ground is all you need. Then your video wires to the 5 posts on the input side of the converter, the single post that's spaced further apart is your sync connection. Then your vga out to your monitor, can't remember if the two side by side, but one of those.

I don't know 100%, but that -5 might have caused some damage.

Thanks for the reply,

Would the green wire that was clipped to the old monitor be an acceptable ground or should I be getting it from someplace else?

If you're pulling +5V from your AR board then grab the ground there as well. There are test lugs for both to help you test your configuration.

I am using J7 pin 1 for ground on AR-II board - see attached
