HELP finding ARKANOID COCKTAIL TABLE UNDERLAY (Pics)

I came across a picture of an Arkanoid cocktail machine that had a really cool Underlay for the arkanoid cocktail. I really want to purchase this underlay but I cannot find it on the web. You guys out there have so much knowledge regarding arcade machines and everything that goes along with it. I figured I would try here :). Hopefully someone will know where to purchase or know someone who can make this underlay for me. I dont mind spending the money! Thanks in advance guys!

I can make you the art file if you would like it. I did all of the Arkanoid art years ago for my machine. Let me know and I can send over a PDF, EPS or AI file for you.

Here is my version of the underlay. There is an Illustrator file attached in the zip file. I use CS3. If you need another format, just let me know.

That is all sorts of awesome.. Anybody know a good place to get something along these lines printed? (would something like kinkos work). And would it be a party foul to put an Ark on on a Revenge of Doh Cocktail... ?

It wouldn't list the extra pills that Doh features... But it's better than nothing, of course.

Here's the list of pills in Doh...
B (Pink) - "Break"
Opens the two warp gates at the bottom of the screen, allowing access to the next level.
P (Dark Grey) - "Player Extend"
Gives you an additional Vaus.
C (Light Green) - "Catch"
Enables the Vaus to catch the energy ball, move to another position, and relaunch it by pressing the fire button. If you hesitate too long, the Vaus will release the ball on its own.
D (Light Blue) - "Disruption"
Splits the energy ball into eight particles (unlike in the original game, where this pill split the energy ball into only three particles).
M (Purple) - "Mega"
Turns the normal energy ball into a red (black in the PC version) "mega energy ball", which can destroy even indestructible bricks and will only bounce back after hitting the sides or ceiling of the chamber.
E (Medium Blue) - "Expand"
Expands the Vaus to double its size.
R (Black) - "Reduce"
Shrinks the Vaus to half its size, but every block you destroy doubles in point value.
L (Red) - "Laser"
Enables the Vaus to fire laser beams that destroy most bricks. Press the fire button to shoot.
T (Dark Blue) - "Twin"
The Vaus physically splits in two, with a small gap in between.
S (Orange) - "Slow"
Temporarily slows down the speed of the energy ball. The energy ball will speed up upon hitting the ceiling of the chamber, making this pill unhelpful in some levels. On the other hand, the energy ball speeds up much more quickly and rapidly in this game than in the original, making it helpful to extend a normal playing speed.
I (Dark Green) - "Illusion"
Creates transparent grey shadows at the bottom of the screen that follow the Vaus around. It will deflect energy balls with no control of the rebound direction, but greatly expands the functional area of the Vaus.
N (Light Grey) - "New"
Continually splits the energy ball into three particles until the Vaus catches another pill. This is very helpful on some levels.
Flashing pill
This special pill will randomly produce one of the following five results:

1. 40 energy balls;
2. 25 mega balls;
3. 8 regenerating energy balls
4. Continuous laser fire
5. Continuous swarm of 15 floating enemies, which hinder level completion.

When you collect a new pill, the effects of the previous pill will expire. However, the results of the pills remain, such as additional balls on the screen.

Pat have OfficeMax near Rotterdam Square Mall print it on their large format printer, I would have them use the glossy paper. Make sure you are there to catch it when it cuts the paper (the girls there don't know how to change the printer settings to turn off the cutter) or it will smudge when it hits the basket. Let it dry for a day then paint it with Krylon Triple Thick clear coat.

Here is the printer:

You asked every question I had. :D (I have a Doh Cocktail).

Can someone point me in the direction of a FAQ on scanning along with all the steps up to getting it printed? (As for apps, all I have is Gimp).

Thats the Ms. Pac / Galaga style. I have the Pacman / Galaxian style as well and can post it if you need it.

Good to know. I don't really have any use for it, since I already have two more cocktails than I have space for, but I know someone who was asking about this.

A slight aside...

Is it true that all original Arkanoids were conversions; i.e. no original dedicated cabinets whatsoever?

Is it also true that the original Arkanoid does not support cocktail mode (i.e. only has one set of inputs and doesn't support screen flip)? It's my understanding that there were some bootlegs that did cocktail mode; and the one or more of the sequels (Tournement? Revenge of Doh?) have a cocktail mode.

I'm starting to look for a cocktail Arkanoid of some variety, and trying to educate myself about what exists.

I have seens what appear to be factory installed Arkanoid kits in certain counter top machines. I have never seen anything that I thought was factory in an upright, cocktail, or cabaret.

The original Arkanoid has a pinout and dip switch for a cocktail configuration. I have never turned it on but I assume the cocktail mode works.

No, not exactly. Only the bootlegs have it selectable via DIP, but there are original Taito Arkanoid and Tournament Arkanoid boards (Tournament is the same exact board, just different ROMs/microcontroller) that are for cocktail. They only differ in the ROM set and microcontroller they use. You can't just burn new ROMs to get cocktail because you need the matching 68705 microcontroller. And you can't just burn a new microcontroller (unless someone has cracked it and read the code, and AFAIK, that hasn't been done).
Original Taito cocktail Arkanoid boards are much harder to find than upright versions. I've had both (normal and Tourney) cocktail PCBs before (I might even still have one).

I only have a rom-less Arkanoid board here in front of me, but can you tell me the microchip location on the board?

I've done quite a bit or rom swapping between Arkanoid and Tournament Arkanoid and don't remember any chip that worked on one PCB but not the other.

The microcontroller looks like an EPROM, so you probably swapped it. Well, not probably... you had to, or it wouldn't have worked.
I don't have a board in front of me, so I can't tell you the position, but the chip label for the upright Arkanoid microcontroller would be "A75 06".
Also, when swapping Arkanoid and Tournament Arkanoid, there are 3 color PROMs (also socketed) that should be swapped. You don't have to (it will run anyway), but they do differ slightly. IIRC, there is something on the title screen of Tournament that won't show up if you've got the wrong color PROMs in there. Never noticed any issues during gameplay though.

Ahh, that's what my Tournament Ark board does, it has a black square where the 'Taito' logo should be on the title screen, I always figured it was the bootleggers hiding the manufacturer name. The PROMs aren't socketed on my bootleg boards anyways...
