I have a monitor that when I got it, it was a bit hacked up (physically, the frame) and not working. I just plugged it back in and I'm getting a very mechanical sounding, steady clicking. I got close and realized the clicking was coming from a small board that was mounted right behind the flyback area. On the board is a small black box that is making the noise when the monitor is plugged in.
The chassis, thanks to member Slots, has been IDed as Rodotron CH-666/Mackvision 3129
This part...
and it sat here, connected to that rainbow ribbon thingy...
SO....
Questions:
What IS that black box?
Are replacements available? Or, is it functioning as intended (a safety device?) and indicating a problem elsewhere?
The monitor does not fire up when power comes on... just a little delay, then the "ka-chunk" sound every 1.5 seconds or so.
Thanks guys...
