Help a newbie out

And ask questions here. Lots of knowledgeable, helpful folks! ;)

Thinking back to when I was a newbie I stumbled across Bob's Roberts site and thought I was in Heaven. So much information explained so well. "The Book" by Atari is a great place to start also. It's available online through different sites. Clay's pinball guides are good, too. Start with http://www.pinrepair.com/begin/index.htm. It's seems that I learned the best by buying games with problems and then having people help me troubleshoot it. Makes a lot more sense when you have a game and a problem in front of you instead of reading about it.

One other I just thought of was http://www.forrestmims.com/.

More Props for Randy

Best advice I can give is to get your hands on a set of Randy Fromm DVDs.

http://www.randyfromm.com/

You used to be able to download the videos once you sign up as a member. Not sure if you still can.

I agree Randy has the best resources (documented, video, etc) for learning to repair games. I would suggest subscribing to his tech site -- it's cheaper than collecting DVDs, and gives you access to everything (including the videos).
