I grew up in the 80s and vividly recall many of the arcades I went to as a child and teenager. I loved video games then and I still do as I am still a kid at heart when it comes to them. I recently purchased my first cabinet game, i.e, Cyberball. I went through countless rolls of quarters in the late 80s in college playing this game! I was lucky to find one and it now sits in my house.
I am very happy to have found this site through BING. It is very gratifying to know that there are people that have fond memories of walking through an 80s arcade listening to the cacophany of sounds and enjoying the amazing (for their time) graphics on display. Never has $0.25 bought more joy than when it went down the coin slot of an arcade machine!
What was I doing on BING you ask? I was searching for help on trouble shooting a problem with my game. I hope someone can help. The game works, i.e., both monitors function, the joysticks work, and the cabinet is generally in good shape. However, the sound is another story. I've run the game's self-diagnostic function and it indicates that the sound board is good. Notwithstanding this, when the machine is first turned on and during game play one hears a series of loud crackling noises and the voice ("Welcome to Cyberball") is not heard. On the other hand, the music is working.
I hope to purchase more arcade machines in the futures and look forward to enjoying this site. Incidentally, I did send a $2 donation through Paypal.
Thanks.
