Hello, Madison/Monona WI! New Classic Retro Arcade In Town!

Came across this while doing some other arcade related searches... Right across the street from my High School alma mater. Check it out! Looks neat.

If there was a retro arcade / pizza place around here, I would definitely go there. There is a regional chain here called Godfather's. Probably only Nebraska people will know what I am talking about. The local one had 3 games last time I was there. There was a Hydro Thunder, Galaga/Ms. Pac Reunion and one of those Classic Arcade multijobbers built by Global VR. That's as close as we come to an arcade pizza place.

It's a long drive from Palm Springs...
Everything is a long drive from Palm Springs.

I love retro arcades, but there doesn't seem to be that many games in there! Was there more than 12 arcade games???

Woulda' killed for a place like this, BITD! 12 games in one location was awesome...

Yeah, there were Godfathers in WI as well... It was a little after my Golden Age time, but yeah, they had gaming areas.

I guess this new place kinda' struck a chord with me, because I grew up right there in the area. I attended High School (class of '81) right across the street. Spent many a Senior year lunch hour (toke toke cough!:D) behind the very building this new place is in...

There is sooo much Golden Age Arcade history in this area. Voyager I Arcade was just down and across the street... Then there was odyssey Pool Hall/Arcade. And pizza... Rocky Rococo's is still there! Love that stuff. I've considered driving back just for a couple slices... And I lived a mile down the road right across from my main gaming hangout, Village Lanes bowling alley.

Well, anyway, I thought the place looked neat. I would love to go there for the decor atmosphere and just hang and play. Just thought someone local might want to check it out when they're in MadTown.

I posted the article just in case people don't want to click the link...

The place looks awesome Bri. Thanks for posting about it. You have to be one of the greatest contributors to this website during it's long and storied history. I love your quick wit and thoughtful insight. I wish there would be more threads like this one.

Looks fun good luck.
It does look like fun. And I do wish them good luck!

Thanks, Bro. Means alot... Yeah, you're one of the few that comes close to understanding my old schoolness... Quick wit he says. Hahaha!!

And insight = ramblings of an old school arcade man.

they've got a discs of tron! i definitely gotta check this place out. its about an hour and a half from milwaukee... not too bad...
Right on! Yeah, and when you are there, just remember, you will be walking on some of the most blood, sweat, tears, piss and puke stained golden age arcade hollowed ground, EVAR!! I expect you to behave appropriately. If you don't get a chill and shiver up your spine, and hear my voice in the wind... well, there's something wrong with you, something terribly wrong!

Sweet. I must make the trip. Who doesn't like pizza anyway?
If some of you cheeseheads check it out, get some pics and/or vid.:)

I wonder if they make good fried mozzarella sticks??
Oh, now you're just hitting below the belt... They do have good ol' Wisconsin cheese curds which are similar. I don't think anyone can compete with the stix up at the Whitefish Bowl. I'd down two baskets easily, so what if I'm plugged up for a week afterwards...

Here's the menu. Just noticed the game list on it as well (23 games listed)... And, yes, they spelled 'missile' wrong:cool:... some things never change

Yup, that was my reference... best cheese stix ever are located in humble little Whitefish! :)

I've only had cheese curds once, and while they were super hot they tasted good, as they got lukewarm... not so much.

I do think you should let them know their spelling error... ;)

It does look like a nice place though, fun and food...

We used to have the Godfather's chain down here in Houston. Haven't seen one since probably the 90's. I always thought they had really good crust.

Oh, my bad... I shall refrain from posting newer arcade locations unless they have at least 60 games. My apologies. Carry on with price checks and MAME/multi/i phone app threads.

hahaha, I knew someone would get all bent out of shape!!..

Come on, MOST of us here have twice as many games in our own basements.
I think it's great, BUT I didn't see a single thing in the video that would make be want to go to that place.. MAYBE they should put a MAME in there for something good to play.

Sorry, but don't all offended...
(I have REAL arcade/pinball machines, I am not defending MAME)

Pure Awesomeness...

SWEET! I love to see this, and relatively close to home. It's an easy day-trip for my son and I, and he will love it. Might have to see if I can squeeze in a trip this weekend. :D

OK, so they do have more games than I first thought.

Video #1
Donkey Kong
Centipede
Sprint
280-Zzzap
Space Invaders (cocktail)
Mortal Kombat
Flash Pinball

Video #2
Robotron
Star Wars
Battlezone
Joust
Galaga

PLUS connected to the Pizza shop? That's a good idea!
Hope they are in a good location, like my a University or something.

No big, I was half bent, and half joking around. Yes, I realize most collectors have more games than the 23 they list, and what are shown in the vids... But, seriously, are some of us getting this spoiled, where we're gonna dismiss a public venue just because we might own more and/or 'better' games? I hope not... There are so many other intangibles to a location like this, that you're just not gonna' get by playing and hanging in your basement-cade. Just sayin'... nothing against your place.

The MAME reference was more of a crack on the forum as a whole. Game on!
