hey fellas,

first time posting here on this awesome site! just to give you an introduction, I just started getting into collecting arcade machines and stumbled on this site while searching around for a good forum! well, just wanted to say hi to ya'll and had some questions that hopefully can be answered. btw, i grew up playing arcades since the early 80's when my uncle owned an arcade called GG's VIDEO in chino california! anybody remember that spot?

well, first off, i am about to purchase my first arcade machine. i am aware what to look out for such as monitor conditions, board functionality, and overall condition of the cabinet. i know there is much more to look out for when buying arcades, but for right now, the only question i have is..... can standard jamma setup be compatible with all jamma games? i noticed that some jamma harness is labeled konami or sega setup.... what the heck? does that mean there are dedicated jamma harness for certain game companies such as what i mentioned? i also heard neo geo has it's own setup too, and that the harness will need re-wiring in order to accept other jamma boards! i am confused..... i thought as long as you have a standard jamma harness, it can accept ALL jamma boards minus jamma plus games like street fighter that need an additional kick harness (i do know that sf2 will connect, but if you dont have a kick harness, then only half of the 6 buttons will work)... can somebody clarify all these questions i have? sorry, i hope i dont sound too demanding.....

i tried searching for my questions on this site, but because im new to this hobby, i can't always understand arcade lingo/terms (at least for now)

thanks guys! this forum is awesome!

oh yeah..... one last thing..... is T2 arcade compatible with standard jamma harness?

Here is some good info on the subject.

JAMMA is a standard pinout that is relatively universal.

JAMMA + means a game has a standard JAMMA connector PLUS an additional connector. Usually for extra buttons sometimes called a Kick Harness. This was necessary as many of the fighting games had more inputs than there was room for on the standard JAMMA harness so the kick buttons got their own harness and connector.

Many classic games can be easily converted to JAMMA with the use of a converter board or a conversion harness. They simply re-route the wires to the correct pins on the connector.

Sure... You can play ANY JAMMA game in your T-2 cabinet but it may be tough to play "Frogger" with a two axis analog light gun...sideways...

I had a family guy moment where I could see someone with a t2 laying on its side playing frogger with light guns...

Thanks guys for all the info!
Just to clarify, if I get a sf2 cabinet, can a t2 board function properly with a typical 6 button joystick layout?

T2 is known as a 'positional gun' game. The gun is essentially a very large analog joystick.

Very cool, is there other gun games that would be compatible with a setup like that? Id love a gun cab that could have a jamma switcher in it to play more then one.
