Hi everyone! I'm Drew, and I'm from northeast Wisconsin.
I've always loved video games and arcade games (I have lots of warm memories of playing the Ms. Pacman plug and play in my grandparents basement as a kid, which helped me to truly appreciate arcade games that are older than me!)
I go to school for Electrical Engineering Technology and work as a senior game technician for a rather large chain and help out a local retro arcade bar on the side.
I'm currently teaching myself how to repair vintage arcade boards as a hobby, to maybe start a side hustle, and to be helpful at the side job. It's something that I've wanted to do since I was in middle school and I finally have some resources to get started!
I'm starting small by learning the ins and outs of PCBs, since I have experience with them from various projects. My current projects are getting a Pacman and Neo Geo MVS 1 slot working and I hope to eventually move up to restoring full cabinets!

Nice to hear from another cheesehead. If you scan the boards here, there was actually a ms pac for sale in your area recently- keep an eye peeled as there are definitely places to find them in Wisconsin, Chicago, etc!

always great to hear about someone young learning to repair PCBs!
Welcome and let us know what you're looking for!

Welcome from California Drew. Sound like you have some pretty fun goals! I have 3 MVS2's and one is fully restored. If you have questions I have become pretty versed on those things, and if I don't know the answer I know folks who do. Lots of Candy and Neo nuts around these parts.

Full restorations is what love doing. Ground up! I am currently on a 720, Tapper, APB, Galaga, and Robocop. Soon to start a Rampage as the others are coming to completion.

I was just visiting Wisconsin yesterday. We landed in Madison for lunch, and then flew up to Dodge County airport and landed there for practice!

Welcome to the forums!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm really glad to hear from more cheeseheads! It makes me happy to know that there are more of us here! 🤣
I should also mention that my primary hobby is just learning anything I can! I've taught myself PCB design, and necessary soldering skills for another side hustle, so I do have some of the underlying skills to repair boards.
