Hi!

I am a new member and I am looking for any local groups that get together for (monthly?) meetings to discuss/repair video and pinball machines.

Looking in the Maryland and up to Harrisburg, PA area since I am Carroll County area of Maryland.

I currently have a Tempest video machine (my first and only video machine) that I purchased from Ebay that arrived DOA.

Looking to learning how to do repairs and I thought this be a good place to start. I do have 4 years of electronics background but from my high school years (30 years ago) but I do know the difference between resistors, RAM, CAPs, etc.

Please let me know of any local area groups.

Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Christopher

Hey Christopher!

Welcome to the madness :D

Talon2000, Kevin, located in the Dallas area (about 45min drive from me) fixes Tempest and other vector game board issues.

Welcome. I'm another new guy from MD whose welcome thread is just (currently) a few threads south of yours. The community here has been very welcoming so far and it makes me wish I didn't lurk for awhile before jumping in.

Good luck with your game... since I still havent acquired cab #1, you're already a step ahead of me.

Hey, another Carroll Co member here! Welcome. Chuck, aka Logical Highs, has some Tempest knowledge as does Jim (retroActive). They are local and might be able to help. There are parties in the area every month or so but tHey kinda pop up informally. They always seem to have a lot of repair action going on at those parties.

My Name is Tim,

I live in Hagerstown. Keep your eyes open for another Arcade party. We have had them at Crab Town in Glen Bernie every so often. We'll start planning a fall meet soon. Pinball Wizard will have a party every so often.

Pinball Wizard is now in Chicago at college. I'm his dad, we will have a get together again even though he isn't here. I did post for a get together at Crabtowne before he left and didn't get much response. Had to cancel it anyway as Crabtowne shutdown for family vacation time.

If any of you would like to come over you are more than welcome, just PM me and we can set up a time. No need to wait for a party or get together.

I guess I should have started with welcome to the group. You now have the disease and a support group to help you get in deeper!

Now have fun!

Chuck

Welcome! More and more Marylanders are joining up now!

I'd like to have a get together at my place but I can't even get the local members to show up, you know who you are lol. I still don't feel like I have enough machines either.

You don't have to gave a on of machine, these things turn into social parties as much as playing games.

As long as it is an agreeable time, I will be there. If it is on a Sat afternoon, I expect you to have some college football playing on the tube as well! I have not seen your collection lately, but I am sure it will be fine for a get together.
