I am new here. I don't have any arcade games yet but I have always had an interest in a few.
Other things I collect include movie prop weapons primarily scifi guns, advertising stop motion miniatures, and toy space guns. Seeing some youtube videos of a local arcade the Lost Arc kind of sparked something. There are lots of neat videos about just retro console collecting too. It all kind of makes one want to have an actual arcade or more.
One I would like to have one day is a Terminator 2 arcade game. One time I beat it two times in one day. I used to play a lot of arcade games at Putt Putt they had something called Super Saturday where you got two tokens at a time and were replenished as needed for all you needed between 9 and 1 or what not. I played and beat a lot or arcade games there.
Its just interesting to learn all that goes into arcade game collecting from space issues to the decision to settle on emulation versus having the full arcade game. Some games with neat accesories can never be emulated properly. Driving and Light gun games are often among those that emulation is just not the same.
The nostalgia of having an arcade game even when near perfection emulation available also is unique.
The one good thing about older arcade games is ones that used to cost $3000 plus often sell for less than 400 today or much less.
