Hey there everyone. Just wanted to say hi and that Im excited to have joined this group / forum of fellow gamers and enthusiasts. I am not completely new to this hobby but Id have to say that Im getting back into it full steam. Ive always loved arcade games since i was a kid back in the 80's. 2002 was when i purchased my first cabinet. A dedicated Double Dragon. I followed that with a beautiful Ivan Stewarts Off Road 3player cab. Unfortunately I dont have those cabinets any more. I did however purchase my first project build around 2005. A plywood dedicated DK cab with the DK3 conversion. It had monitor problems and was the reason it was sold. I did the research and performed my first "cap kit" I was so proud of the fact that I was able to fix the monitor. I even didnt fry myself when i discharged a monitor for the first time! I followed it all up with new side art new coin mechs nicer control panel and bezel. Its not 100% but shes mine and I still have her.... I currently own an original PACMAN cabinet that is in need of a serious restoration. total cost of this cab FREE. Yeah can you believe it im driving down the alley and there it was sitting there. I never thought that I could move as fast as I did to get it into my garage.. water damage fried the power supply but board and monitor work! I also recently picked up a Hogans Alley in a particle board nintendo cab. Im thinking about a D2K beautiful restoration but its up in the air. Lastly I just completed two projects a nice little bartop for a friend and my 4player mame cab with a 25" WG K7000. Im here to continue to learn about this hobby and get to know a great bunch of people that enjoy the classics as much as I do. See ya in the forums.

Hey,

Welcome to the Madness! Your the second person I've heard of just driving around Chicago and finding a game just sitting there. I haven't been so lucky yet, but I'm not normally in the city. The only thing I've seen lately (Aurora Area) is a bunch of sofa's or chairs, sitting near the side of the road. Still hope to one day get lucky and find a game.

I know it was certainly crazy. Ive recently seen an arcade in the back of a junkers truck. Most likely heading off to have the metal inside scrapped. Too bad I was working at the time. I couldve probably paid the guy a few bucks and saved it.

Welcome to the forums!

Yeah, those junker guys are notorious scavengers. They'll take anything that has metal in it.

I've never been lucky enough to find a curbed cab, but I have found cheap cocktails before. All sold but one.

welcome!! Another chicago guy... You guys are popping out of the woodwork.

All the chi klovers are frickin awesome. COnsider yourself lucky.

Wow a free pacman cab, I love these kinda of stories! I will be starting my first cap kit job myself and hope it turns out as well. Welcome aboard!
