Well... technically the nearby suburb of Andover

I'm a long time classic game enthusiast and software engineer/roboticist by trade. I just picked up a sweet new (to me) Midway SI cab and hope to do some minor restoration work on it. Basically it reboots after a half hour of playing fine and the sound and backlights don't work--but I'll make a separate post on that.

I'd describe myself as a tinkerer and all-around DIY kind of person. For example, in the past I've played around with EPROM programmers and made my own Atari VCS carts. I do silly things like build music synthesizers out of old computers. I etch and mill my own PCB boards (I own a small CNC machine). I turned a bedroom in my house into an electronics lab. In other words, or the words of my wife, I'm a bit weird.

Welcome, Your description sounds a lot like myself. I never had a SI or CNC,
But did u check the voltage across the farthest chip?

I figured I'd start with a capkit and might as well pickup a Braze Multigame since it comes with a diagnostics test (and 8 games!) It should be noted that all the components in the cab are original, so I figure the 30+ year caps are due for a change.

I'll definitely try testing the farthest chip's voltage, once I figure out what chip is farthest on the board from the input voltage source. I take it the idea is I start with the farthest chip and work towards the first to isolate the issue (if there is one on the mainboard)?

Welcome to the board!

Did you get this sorted out? Let me know if you need help, I'm pretty much one town over from you ;).

PS - I'd be more than happy to trade all the help I can for a tiny bit of CNC time, LOL :D (I was soooooo close to buying a Zenbot last year when I blew my CNC fund on arcade cabs...)
