Im in the queen creek area and just poking around the site here. Started playing with emulators during the oven months but they just dont 'scratch that itch'. still going back and forth on just sticking with emulators but in a cabinet (homemade vs commercial is still undecided) or get a full size arcade machine and see where that takes me.
as a linux engineer, the emulators do provide a bit of "comfortable surroundings" but they just aint the same as i remember.

@jimbo762 - You lucky dog! I love to visit AZ (flying in from NYC) because the arcade scene fantastic out there. There's a bunch of great AZ locals here on KLOV. There was an event "Zapcon" which I'd attend every year I could. Sadly, it's on hiatus though. Hoping it will come back soon.

@Arcadenut , @jawhn and @Yotsuya would probably know best on who from KLOV is out there. It's good so see someone interested in the hobby!

Welcome to the hobby Jim. If you are still playing with emulation and you haven't tried it yet, take a look at the MiSTer FPGA project, it's linux based so you should feel at home and it provides game accuracy much better than most emulation solutions.

Lots of active members in AZ, so you should be able to make some good contacts.
