I have a Heavy Barrel arcade game and looking over the schematics and wiring, I am under the impression this is just a simple board swap.

They both are both jamma and have/need an eight way joy stick.

Is this just a simple board swap or is there going to be monitor issues?

I don't know much about the monitors or cabs but I keep learning.

Heavy Barrel and Cadash are wired for JAMMA, so the swap will work for this board and for 1000's of other JAMMA boards.

But, Heavy Barrel needs the kick harness for the rotary motion of the joystick, so this adds a few boards to the list too- Gondomania, Time Soldiers, etc. and the other games that require the rotary joystick.

EDIT: Cadash is a horizontal game and HB is a vertical game. You'll need to physically rotate the monitor.

You mentioned Gondomania and some other Data East games. I don't mean to hijack this, but I was wondering if SNK games like Ikari Warriors and Victory Road would work in the Data East cabs, specifically a Gondomania cabinet. They both seem to be JAMMA and use rotary sticks, but are the pinouts to make the rotary part work the same?

Generally yes - I run Ikari Warriors III in the same cab as Midnight Resistance, there might be the odd example tho.

@the OP - Heavy Barrel is virtually unplayable without the rotary function as you have no way of aiming while you walk.
