Hear about the bad Kortek KTN-2001 19" monitors ?

Anyone else hear about the brand new Kortek(Imperial) KTN-2001 19" monitors that had a rash of problems and they had to return them to China to get repaired ?

Some had very severe case of streaking across the screen , especially besides the sprites, from left to right(horz) or top to bottom on a vert. cabinet

I just bought one from Competitive Products, they had to deal with this. But the ones from Arcadeshop.com still have problems, bought 2 of them and they both had problems.

The one Monitor from Competitive Products works great now. But I wonder what had to be fixed in the first place.

Anyone else come across this or found out what the deal is ?

Yeah, there is another post or two around here about it from a while back. I'm at work, otherwise I'd link it...

ok, I like to see those links.

quick update,
on the Kortek Monitor from Competitive Products, even though it works great, it's about 95% , you can still see some residual streaking on a couple of screens--if you look closely. But at least they took the effort to get them fixed.

I'm still getting the run-around/silent treatment from Arcadeshop.com about refunding the 2 Kortek monitors - even when they have been returned already - geesh !!

thanks for the help

Please keep us updated... I've been thinking about buying a few just to put away, but in light of your experience and the fact that I wouldn't be opening them for some time I'm not so sure now.

Thanks for the links to the other postings, I see this was around for several years. I know now why I didn't notice it before, I wasn't using this model back then :) Actually I did use a couple here 'n there but I guess I was lucky. It wasn't until recently last year when I did order a dozen of these at one time did I start noticing the blowout/squealing problem mentioned in the other posting. I had two with this problem, the first time thought it seemed there was a power glitch that caused it, and then the problem went away, the monitor started working fine again, I let it burn-in 24hrs to make sure it would still run and it did. The 2nd time, it really did blowout, there were several parts blown, beginning with the HOT and other drivers.

I ordered all of these from Betson too--here locally in Pittsburgh-- but I found out by accident they had a better choice so I kept ordering the other monitor. Mainly because of the same reason the other post mentions, about the mounting holes in the chassis - the Kortek holes never lined up, had to cutout the holes bigger, etc. These other ones they had were perfect, the mounting holes were wider so they would fit in almost any cabinet with any chopping/cutting of the mounting holes.

This was also a Betson Imperial Monitor, The ordering info is Model# MTG-1901CN, Part# 44-4519-02, 19" monitor. They also had the 13" model, MTG-1301CN. These worked great--I must have used several dozen of these monitors over the past 5yrs with out problems, and they're still going strong, no picture/streaking/bleeding/blowout problems in the all the games I built. I noticed another posting on here saying these are made by Tovis. And Happ relabels these as Vision Pro monitor.

The Local Office here in Pittsburgh sad they no longer can supply monitors-they sounded like they wouldn't sell then in general, so I thought I had to go elsewhere. But now I found the that model on their website still from their New Jersey office.
This is the one, item#JCM 44-4519-02 for $189.95
http://www.betson.com/products/JCM-44-4519-02
I just called them and they trying to find out if they can get this in.

And they have some refurb monitors in stock for $159
http://www.betson.com/products/parts/IMP-WGR1972

The other one that's in stock, must be the Kortek monitor, IMP 44-4019-02
http://www.betson.com/products/parts/IMP-44-4019-02

BTW, those links might help my situation with Arcadeshop.com when I reference that information to them to prove this problem has been around for a while

thanks again,

quick update,

well, Betson(NJ) just got back to me and they said that they _do_not_ sell anymore 19" CRT monitors any longer

As of this moment, their website hasn't been updated to reflect this yet.

Old post I know...But I'm trying to figure out if the issues with these monitors only occurs with 60:1's?

Thanks!

I've used 5-6 of these Imperial monitors. I only had the streaking once....with one of the multi-boards. YMMV.

I have one of these monitors, well actually bought 2 of them from Arcadeshop, were originally destined for a Reunion Build and a cocktail, put the one in the Reunion, and looks great no issues, put one in a brand new cocktail, added a 60 in 1 and wow the picture looks bad! streaking, blurring, had to pull the monitor and put in a refurb hantrex and works great, I then built a cocktail for myself and using the Arcadeshop PCB and no issues with the same games (MsPac) also tried a Naomi, Mr Driller no issues, seems to be with the 60 in 1, would be interested to know if the older 39 in 1 and 49 in 1 are the same or just the later ?????
