Having some breathing room in the arcade is surprisingly nice

If you've been following the recent going-ons of Casa del Fatsquatch, then you'll know that a few cabs have recently left. For the longest time, I've had every available spot filled with a game, and for the first time in many years, I actually have some room.

The insane collector in me initially went into "what games can I add now?" mode, but I have to say, I find it very nice -- even somewhat liberating -- to have some free space. It's cool to be able to space your games apart so that you can actually see the frickin' sideart, and it even makes the remaining games seem so much more...important than they did before.

I can see adding another game soon if the right game and the right deal arises, but I think I'm gonna try to enjoy the space for a while. It's nice.

I am down to 9 in the garage, and I agree, the space is really nice. I can actually walk around now. :)

My wife keeps me in check so we can at least fit her car in the garage and we don't have to walk around games to get to the garage from inside of the house. It is nice to be honest. Guys just think "the more, the better" without really considering the importance of space and organization.

It really does make my game room look bigger and nicer than it really is. I only have half a bonus room which is about maybe 12' X 12' of space. So 4 games against the wall, a futon, a coffee table, red tent next to that, my NES/console setup and a bookshelf. Then I have my projects on one side of the garage right outside of my game room so it will serve as an extension almost.

Space? What is space?...

10 games in the living room, 4 in the kitchen, jukebox waiting to come in from the garage, and another 25" cab on the carport waiting for the juke to come in (want to get them both at once since I have to take the doors off the hinge for both of them)...

Another game on the way (Dragon's Lair project, yay!), and possibly 2 more in the next week or so. God forbid I have to bring the Tron back home in the near future...

I haven't been able to cook in the kitchen or watch TV in the living room for almost 2 years now. lol

Glad you got your stuff organized, though... wish I could do the same.

I'm going through the same thing right now. About 5 games are leaving today -- I'm sad, but I need some space back (plus I got the ultimatum from the wife...). It was hard deciding which games to let go. I went through a phase where if a cheap game popped up on CL or EB locally it was mine. Ended up with a lot of stuff that I pretty much can't even give away. The only games that seem to get any play at parties are the pins, MvSF, Outrun, and Hang On. Tempest was/is my grail so that was a no brainer and I have way too many MVS carts to loose the Neo.

So I guess the decision really was kind of easy...All my project cabs are going away + my working Centipede and Ms Pac 60/1. I don't want to loose those 2, but that's life...I'm sure another Ms Pac will eventually make her way back into my life.

While it's nice to have many games available to play, I honestly think that some gamerooms posted in here sometimes are WAYYYY overcrowded. Small rooms with 20 games in it always give me a weird claustrophobic vibe, and I dont know how those guys can manage to have guests, it looks like its hard to navigate around! I own 4 cabs right now, and I have space for maybe 2 more before it becomes too much. I have a giant screen, sound system, two computers, and so on. There's a huge difference between collecting classics and becoming a hoarder, and face it, always so many games in a basement looks incredibly tacky..
