Having Problems With My Lighting Behind My Marquee On Tron

So I put a new light bulbs in my Tron Machine and all work fin but when I put a light bulbbehind the marquee and it only lights up the sides of the bulb. So I replaced the holder that the ends of the bulb go into. I dont know what their called and that fixed it then a few days later it started doing the same thing. If I position the bulb in the right spot the light comes all the way on and if I get it to stay on once I turn it off and turn it back on the light doesnt come on at all unless I position back to where it only lights up the sides of the bulb. I once again replaced the holders and it worked and then I got the same problem. Anyone know whats causing this and how to fix it?

Have you replaced the FS-2 starter yet? If not, do so. If you did, try another.

I guess it's possible your ballast is starting to fail and isn't always putting out the proper voltage to light the bulb thru the starter...

Im kind of new or a noob to fixing my machines and dont really know the technical terms so I have no clue what a FS-2 starter is, Could you please explain?

You have a bad starter. Here is a picture of one. This picture shows a plastic cased one. Many come in a silver aluminum case.

How it works:

Yours is located on the backside of the metal light fixture itself. Have the machine power cord unplugged from the wall as the backside of the light fixture contains exposed live current-carrying connections. The starter mounts in the socket by a quarter turn twist then lift the starter out. Your machine uses the FS-2 size starter for 15 to 20 watt bulbs.

Thank you, now can I just go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a FS-2 Starter and replace it? Do they have different wattage ones where I would need to look for a 15-20 watt one or are the FS-2 Starters all the same?

All FS-2 starters are the same. Can be bought in the lighting/electrical section of any hardware/electrical/lighting store. Even some grocery stores sell them in with the light bulbs. Frequently sold in a two pack. Always buy extras as it's very common to have a bad one right out of the package.
