Maybe your kid. Maybe your downtrodden friend. Maybe your uncoordinated cousin from far away. Maybe your honey. You didn't want to play Pac-Man or Galaga all day anyway... The question is have you (do you) let anyone win at a video game? Tell why if you have and if you want to add your vote, click over to the poll on my site...

I let Billy Mitchell beat me at pac man. He had this odd looking mullet and seemed down on his luck so I went humanitarian.

I hear yea, I let this Bill Carlton guy beat me at Missile Command at the Seattle game show last year, putz only got 33,000,000 phftttt

I usually let people win the first few times people play Virtual On, it's too harsh if they don't even get one hit in... I tell them I do it though and train them and it's not too long until I'm playing half-force. My last protege was able to put up a good fight with me going full force after just one day of playing, I was quite impressed.

BITD I used to let my buddies beat me at MK. They would get so tired of losing they wouldn't play me anymore. I think everybody has let somebody win once or twice.

I always let my niece and nephew win a few games when they play. It's no fun to lose especially with younger children. I can remember playing MK and Street Fighter and when I had my fill of winning against people, I would let a noob or kid beat me....let them have some fun too!

I was letting my daughter beat me at Karate Champ but she has gotten so stinking good at it I've had to stop doing that LOL

Repped ya!

I can say I have let friends win before every once in awhile, just because they don't have the practice that I do, and it keeps them interested.

Last month my girl took the Grand Champion spot on my TAF, just shy of 250 million. I had some people over for the holidays and I toured the mansion on ball two with an extra ball, let it drain, shut it off and walked away :D

You don't want to piss Billy off or he'll ignore you and talk bad behind your back but just loud enough to hear you. :D Honestly, I don't know how he really is but King of Kong made him look like a candidate for the biggest douche in the galaxy.

I let my friend win in the past, not because I was better but because my patented n00b jump kick in Mortal Combat would beat him every time. He had all the cool moves down and I would just jump kick the hell out of him and win.

I always let people win at Soul Calibur until they start talking shit. The look of realization when they go from beating your ass 5 rounds in a row to not even being able to hit you is hilarious. ;)

yup..... i let my 3 year old win all the time whenever we play 2 player marble madness. he usually beats me getting to the finish line :)

the kid loves the trackball games. so between crystal castles and mm he always wins. he's getting better and better at cc too. im teaching him the whole "warp" concept and he now can get to the 4th level on his own. haha, im def a proud papa!

I dont. My wife knows what kind of gamer I am and knows if I'm not playing to win. I think at this point she has basically resigned herself to the fact that I ha a far nerdier childhood as a hardcore gamer and she can never catch up in terms of experience or developed skill.

She stands a decent chance with a few specific games but generally we dont play against each other so that I do not get punched in the arm a lot. :|

During our New Year's Eve party, my son was talking trash and acting all big about his skills on Super Street Fighter 4, so I let loose on him and played against him with an intensity that I didn't know that I had. Normally when we play, it pretty equal. But not this time.

After I walked all over him, my nephew (his cousin) challenged me. Let's just say that I REALLY wished that someone was recording it with a camera. I was TRYING to "take it easy on him" (he ThInKs that he is a good player!) and EVERYTHING that I threw his way was landing. It was crazy one-sided. It made me look like some sort of master and him like a total noob. The sad fact is that I was actually TRYING to "go easy" on him by throwing moves that I was SURE he would block. Unfortunately, he didn't. It was really weird. It was SO bad, that I FELT bad about it. Later that night, I REFUSED to challenge him on Outrun 2, and found somebody else for him to play in my place. I didn't want him going home and complaining to his parents that his uncle "showed him no mercy"...

But what the hell are uncles good for otherwise? If daddy's taking it easy on 'em it's Uncle Mike's (Bob's, Steve's etc) to roll a little reality up in there.
