Just wondering if anyone out there has just said "fuck it" when it comes to a game search. Or a game board,marquee,parts,whatever....

I am seriously thinking about doing just this when it comes to my Mega Man arcade stuff.Yeah, these boards are rare, but God damn! Really?! No one has these for sale on the entire damn planet?!

I have looked for YEARS for some of this stuff with no progress at all....NONE! All I have ever come up with are dead ends.

Hell,I've seen a Major Havoc,I Robot,Liberator,Quantum, and Reactor all come up for sale....very rare games which predate this board I'm looking for anywhere from 12 to 15 years.

Despite this,I have NEVER seen a Mega Man 2 board come up for sale.....NEVER. Really? Is someone hoarding them all? Did they all get destroyed in a tragic fire? Were they used as skeet discs by bored Capcom employees?

My searches either end up as it's long sold out or some collector has it,so of course it will never be available for sale unless I give them 35 billion dollars, and then they MIGHT part with it.

I would more than love to find this stuff that I'm looking for but as it stands now it seems I have better odds of doing the following than finding these damn boards:

Filling out a perfect NCAA March Madness bracket 5 years in a row
Winning the lotto 47 consective times
Making 32 consecutive half court shots
Discovering the Loch Ness monster and bigfoot within a hour of each other
Breaking into and declassifying area 51 with nothing more than a paper clip and a disposable camera.
Finding the holy grail, the ark,and the bones of Jesus Christ all in the same day.

And yeah, while I tried to throw some humor into this rant,I still am very frustrated in the fact that my efforts to find these boards has turned up nothing.

I know a large part of the fun of collecting is the hunt, but if your extensive hunting has yielded no results and the prospects of any future success is basically nil.....there is no fun, only frustration and when it gets to that level....what is the point?

If you're looking for original, yeah, it can be tough.

If you just want to play it, you could get the CPS2 18-in-1 multi...

I just knew this rant was about Mega Man boards because of who started this thread. I know you've been searching but hell that is a rarity. I wish you luck and if I ever see one I'll let you know straight away.

Well how about the games that are fairly common but still can't be found? For instance,I have been trying to get a paperboy and Toobin machine for over 2 years. Every time I find one I'm too late. Those two games seem to be everywhere but here in Maryland.

Not arcade related, but I've pretty much givin up all hope of finding my grail, the Tektronix 4010 (or the larger 4014) graphic terminal. They almost never turn up, and when they do, something always happens and someone else gets it.

Sooner or later things will show up..... As a Taito junkie, I found somebody who had a Wild Western and a Tin Star----both rare.... Now if I can find some Kram and Electric Yo Yo items......

I just found one in a game from a bulk buy I did. Sold it for $20, I didnt know it was rare.

Just kidding. Seriously, stop looking so hard and one will pop up. Seems to happen more often then not. Kind of like looking for a girlfriend.

Post up on the vintage-computer.com forums. ;)

That forum doesn't get very much traffic, and the traffic it does get is mostly home micro/old PC oriented. I'm on a couple of mailing lists that cater more towards the big iron/minicomputer stuff. I've been collecting old computers for a lot longer than I've been collecting arcade games. :D

All of these boards are in the hands of Japanese and European collectors/ hoarders. They will never sell them. You can try posting on the Jamma Plus forums. You might find one there but you'll have to pay for shipping from the UK and the exchange rate will get you as well. ;)

Just don't give up hope yet... they are out there.

A few weeks ago on CL there was a Mega Man arcade game listed. Didn't have a specific title, and the picture was crummy, but I think I made out the power battles marquee.

I would have been all over it, but it was in the Spokane area (about a 5-6 hour drive, one way). I think it was either $150 or $250. Maybe DJW90 remembers seeing it? or anyone else local?

Is there a big market for boards overseas? I did sell a Dragon Breed PCB and, at the recommendation of a friend, I offered to ship it worldwide. I ended up selling it for around $270!

Yes. Dragon Breed is also a great game.
I played it a bit but never really cared for it. It was in my Q*Bert cab when I bought it and I honestly thought it was just another junk board. The marquee said Draon Spirit so nobody knew what was in there and I was after the Q*Bert anyway. The board ended up going to a guy in France. It was just crazy to see how it jumped in price in the final minute. I remember it sitting there at like $108 in the last minute and I was okay with that but of course hoping for more. I about shit myself when it jumped up to $270 in the final moments. I need another one of those type deals to help me finance purchasing a model 3 Star Wars Trilogy board.
