I traded a xbox and some games for a ninja gaiden cab a few years ago and was thinking about bartering some of my collectibles for more cabs. Have any of you guys bartered instead of cash for a cab, and if so what was the item, and for what game?

I recently bartered repair work for a cab, though the deal isn't complete yet. He offered up the deal and I took it.

I am always willing to barter work for parts instead of cash to fellow collectors.

I did a similiar trade a couple years ago. Thought it might have been with you for a minute. I took a modded xbox in trade for a game that needed a litle work. It wasnt ninja gaiden though. It was a 2 player side scrolling game (Dont remember the name now)

I have traded an arcade game for another arcade game. I traded an Arkanoid in a converted Journey cabinet (had the Journey monitor glass - was flaking a bit). I got a working Turbo Mini in return. Traded it to Noice. Not sure what ever happened with that cabinet. He did some work on it.

Traded an old Xbox for a centipede cabaret. The only thing wrong with the Centi was that it needed a cap kit for the monitor and a new overlay!

I traded a fresh dragons lair cabinet for a working toobin'

It has always been a rarity for me to get anyone to "I prefer the term" HORSETRADE.
Unless it's a fellow enthusiast and you have something they want then its a cash deal.

Then the other side is dealing with a non enthusiast that has an arcade to sell .... they want strict cash only.

I've horse traded once with a fellow KLOV'r - and I knowingly gave him the MUCH better deal.

I traded a cartoon booth that I got free from fellow klov'er for a jukebox, blue shark, sprint, and one other that I can not remember now. I still have the mini cartoon booth with a TV and dvd set up instead of the projector.

Best trade ever.

A little bit, yes.

More-so, I have had people offer me crap for games. Unless it is something I really want, I decline. One guy in particular from PA has offered me some GI Joe dolls and some robot thing on two separate occasions a year apart. Anytime someone offers you stuff in trade and tells you how much you could make selling it is full of shit. Granted the stuff he was offering was worth some money, it wasn't realistically the value of what I was selling.

Moreso, if it is 'so valuable', why doesn't he sell the stuff and pay me cash while pocketing the difference?? I told him as much the second time. Never heard from him again.

What kind of stuff do you have to barter? I have a Street Fighter II Champion edition. I need to thin the heard a bit. Also I'm from Carroll County not to far from you.

I traded a multi-williams cab for a NOS playfield for my pin and the guy is installing and new mpu and doing the playfield swap/shop. I was happy with a deal like that.

I have traded parts with dj dns once before too, he was a good guy to deal with.

It is nice to be able to get what you want buy just moving around parts/surplus instead of dropping cash

It's interesting that this posting popped up. Right here in the KLOV classifieds, I have listed my 1997 Kawasaki ZX-11 for sale, and have indicated that I would consider an arcade game plus cash in offer for the bike. Even more interesting, I'm in CECIL County Maryland! :)

Most of my bartering is with my wife...when I want to purchase another game! :)

I traded a Wii for a Sinbad, a Wild Fyre, an Eros One, and an Operation Wolf.

I traded an Operation Wolf for my truck.

I traded building a mame machine in a Z-back for the monitor out of it and a 56" TV.

I traded a stripped down down Outrun cab for a pair of cabal trackballs.

I traded a Battlezone for a pile of soda machine parts.

Those are just the ones that come to mind. I would much rather trade than deal in cash, its more fun...

I got my first game through a barter. Traded an old bass amp, a couple of guitar pedals, and a old beatup acoustic guitar. Probably about $150 worth of stuff for a perfectly working DK in a beat up cabinet. Great deal IMO. :)

I used to trade games with Gaymond Lee all the time back when he went to San Digo State. Couldn't bring myself to pay his outrageous prices. ;)

Thats how I got most of my collection, just ask Djdns. I traded labor for all the games I got from him which is probably about half my collection and a bunch I have since sold.
