Anyone used LEDs for the bulbs that do the lightning effects on a Haunted House? I was thinking of using some of the ultra bright whites.

I put LEDS in my black hole.I used the regular 90 degree bulbs and turned out really nice i think using the ultra brights are way too bright for the backglass but they are really good for inserts.

I've got a HH, but I've never considered that.

There a several potential reasons for me to consider LEDs:

1) the location make it a royal pain in the ass to change the bulb; LEDs' (hopefully) longer life span helps here.

2) the location makes it likely that the original incandescent will damage something (i.e. the backglass); LEDs' much lower heat output helps here.

3) the game's GI circuits/power supply/connectors aren't really up to the task; LEDs' lower current draw helps here.

In the lightning effect lamps, none of these come into play. They're a piece of cake to change and they're only on for a fraction of a second every few seconds, so they don't generate much heat nor draw much current.

What would you be hoping to accomplish by going LED here?
