I'm heading out Monday to haul this recently acquired Rastan from PA back to SD in a 5x8 U-Haul trailer.

I have a ton of blankets to cushion it, but am wondering if I should lay the cabinet on its back or side for monitor safety?

Any other tips/advice are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The only sensitive part is the monitor. I would take the monitor out and keep it in your vehicle. Discharge it first of course…

I would even take the neckboard off the tube (gently) and then place some protection around the tube to avoid bumping and scratching the front glass.

If you don't want to remove anything from the cabinet, I would make sure:

1. The monitor is bolted securely
2. Coin bucket is removed
3. Any loose change or metal parts (screws at the bottom etc.) are also removed.

Good luck with the drive!

Remove the glass bezel and wrap in bubble wrap or blanket. The make sure EVERYTHING inside the cab is secured fully. Rubber band the power cord tight and secure it as well. They make sure all exterior items like the CP and coin door are secure. Then lay on it's back. You can so the side if you need the room but protect the side art to avoid damage.

I use a cheap foam mattress topper laid in the van bed with a thin piece of birch on top. Gives the machine a bit of a cushioning, allows you to slide the machine in on its back. Watch for power cables in the back, stick them inside if possible. And, as already said, have the seller open the machine and make sure nothing loose is in there.

Also, anything relying on gravity to hold it in place (bezel?) Should be removed before loading.

Unlatch the control panel and remove that. The top edge of it covers the bottom support for the bezel. You can lift the bottom there and slide it out.

Also, stern did a great just of supporting the monitors in those cabs. Tighten the four bold holding it to the tray and also the side bolts that secure the monitor sled/tray to the cabinet.
