Hate to say it, but I am getting out...

In all seriousness though best of luck i hope it all works out.

We live in the rockford area of illinois, mabye an hour or 1.5 from chicago.

a few years go we moved closer to chi-town so my wife could chase her dreams.

I came running back here a few years later. I hope in your case it works out well.

In my case, i just ended up with alot more debt lol but HEY i did pickup the arcade and pinball hobby while living there and met a bunch of badass klov folks so it wasnt all bad.

Very nice! I don't know if I could live in Cali, but I love visiting there. Hope it all works out for you. - Barry

I am considering moving down to Sac or the bay area in the next few years as well. I like Reno OK, but there are just way more collectors in California. There are more job opportunities as well, just not sure about the cost of living.

exactly sir the cost of living in bigger cities negate your higher wages. More income but more bills too, so you still struggle but with more debt and more stress :D

Wait. Is this the same Dave I picked the Pac-Man and Galaga cabs up from back in the 90's/2k's? Lived in a neighborhood in Castro Valley where they forced you to park your car in the garage?

Ya, that was a long time ago wasn't it ?

This time I won't be living in a place with a HOA.

Anyway, I grew up down there and have a lot of connections and family and friends I can stay with so it should not be too much of a gamble. Thanks for the encouragement guys. And ya, I
should be at CAX.

You go where you can make money, You go where you and put down roots.
Good luck in california. if good to have friends to help you out. If you going into the board repair business. I am sure I can send you some business your way. Keep us informed when you settle in.

best of luck

Give it time....everyone on KLOV will eventually live here. :)

Yup, when you all take the rest of us out like Greece is is doing to the EU we will all be living with huge tax bills, curly fry light bulbs, and cross state yearly naked bike rides for some charity to save a lizard. I can't wait...I already have a bike!!! :D

You're living in your own private Idaho...underground like a wild potato ..Sorry Idaho always reminds me of the B52s. Good luck on your relocate

Yeah, but can you ride your snowmoblie? WAY more fun than a PWC, imo of course.

I would much rather play on the water.
There are a lot less clothes on the ladies also.;)
As I said I can ride all year long if I want to,just throw on a dry suit for real cold weather.
Can you ride the snow mobile in the summer?

No, but we get the best of both worlds, pwc in the summer, snowmoblies in the winter.

Plus the ladies most likely are not interested in you, so thats a moot point. ;)

Dave,

Hopefully we'll see you back in the Bay Area collecting community soon :) .

FYI...don't know if you heard...but I, too, was forced to move out due to an HOA situation involving the games after 10 years of no problems...

It worked out in the end as I have a great house now in a better city just one town south, but I sure have soured on HOAs and am glad to be free of them.

Let us know if and when you move back here for sure...

And a big congrats on getting married!! :)

Jon

Lived there for just over 3 years... I was in such a hurry to get out of the state I gave away a car and motorcycle to a friend because it would have delayed me a couple more weeks to arrange shipping.

Congratz on the move though, to each their own. If you want to go there, and you're going there... then you're doing good (can be said of any place).

I hear you. California is a nice place, but it does have its problems. I am not looking forward to the crime, traffic, the crazy prices on almost everything, and giving up my nice house , but I am looking forward to being able to do more arcade related work and going to some of my favorite places ( Val's Burgers in Hayward, Everret and Jones BBQ , Fentons ) if I can afford it ;)

Well, heck, Dave! Glad to hear you'll be back here shortly...be sure to stop by on your way through for a visit at the Game Grid Arcade...we always have room!

You know, we had this discussion before, a long time ago...there's more to CA than Sacramento, Bay area, and LA. Redding is nice, lower cost of living, lower crime, and virtually no traffic.

Just sayin....

Hopefully we'll connect when you get settled.

Congratulations on your marriage too...quite a surprise!

Dave, sorry to hear you're leaving. I looked forward to visiting more during future Idaho trips, but at least there's still Dan and Jon. :) Sounds like you've got some interesting adventures ahead of you and I wish the best for you and your lovely wife. Hope you'll still plan to come to the Seattle show next year!
