So, I had 3 machines. One functioning the other two projects. Every time I would see a machine on CL my wife, Tiffany, would say "You should get the ones you have working first"

Well, a few weeks ago, I got a lead on my Asteroids cabaret. It was advertised as not working. She said the usual. But, I got it anyway.
When we got home, I plugged it in, and it fired right up. I was very excited, and so was she... she called her parents over to show it off to them. Her dad wanted to buy it from us, but she wouldn't let him.

So... NOW, she's the one browsing CL and telling me I should go buy a game... we've already got another one, that she talked me in to. And, come this weekend, we are going to pick up another machine that she wants. We're broke, but that hasn't stopped her from telling me we should get some more

Tiffany is hooked... and that's not a bad thing, lol...

As long as I can convince her that the game is a "great deal" I have an advantage, I only have 1 project at the moment and hope to keep it that way, all bets are off if I end up with anymore projects......

How much you getting for if you don't mind me asking. Never heard back on it but don't have room anyway.

I'll let you know after I have it... I'm still working details out with him. He's a slow emailer, and hasn't used the phone number I've given him. He's given me a day to come up, and I've said what time I could be there, but he hasn't said if it's an alright time yet... seems like an honest guy. He said he wants to sell it to someone who isn't looking to flip it, or profit, but rather enjoy it

i have way, way too many projects and cabs already so you can have all the great CL deals.

well, unless that $50 Tempest shows up; then you're in trouble. :)

I am very happy for you and envious at the same time.My finacee doesn't mind me getting games, but she's not really into them either. She's more understanding when I get a good deal, but she pretty much has a "whatever makes you happy" stance when it comes to my game collecting.

No, this hasn't happened to me yet. Mostly because my wife has been a stay at home mom for the last 11 years.

I guess I get to spend money on what I want. As long as the wife/kids have what they need, I don't have to explain my purchases nor care to.

Once my wife finishes medical school....yeah, it's all over:001_ssuprised:

My wife is in the last year of her Naturopathic school so I get some good stuff in a few years.

My wife will be an OB in about 2 years. I plan on being a stay at home dad, (for my kids teenage years) taking my 13 years worth of my 401k, and blowing it on whatever I want since it won't add up to dry shit to what my wife will be making.

13 years of climbing the ladder, busting my ass, getting a degree, and she'll make what I made in about 5 years.

My wife is a CNA at the moment, and will be going for more soon enough.

I just picked up my Associates in Computer Science. But, I haven't found a job for it yet... I'm trying to go for a BS at least

I have a BSIT. Or what I like to call it "BS N It" and look at me, I'm a glorified cable guy!!!

I've worked in a NOC, been the IT guy for 1000 clients, and I'll tell you what, I like being in the suck (the weather) and having the less glorious job of "cable guy". Of course, after so long in the industry, I am the "fiber guy", but it's really the same crap. I also make more money (hourly) doing this then I did using my degree (salary).

Thank God I did a little time in the military and they paid for the degree. I'd be pissed about now If I had paid for it.

Come on-

Just leave that 401K alone. You saved it, now let it sit. Let your blowing money come from somewhere else- it won't be worth the penalties you pay to get at it.

Broke's not good brah, just make sure those bills come first. In the past when I was younger and got into this hobby I let games come before my other financial priorities and it screwed me up royally for a month. Lesson learned

Yeah, I hear you.

Let me clearify what I mean when I say broke.

I worked for Game Crazy locally. As most of you know, that company went under. So, I'm unemployed.

We have enough to support ourselves, and put a little away (a very little), just on my wife's income and my unemployment.

I've been fixing computers and doing odd jobs for a little extra cash. I am trying to save it for certain things, but she's talking me in to spending it on arcade games. Since it's designated for video games anyway (more home consoles) it's not a huge deal.

The closest I've come to this is to have the wife say "Just go get the damn thing already...I'm tired of hearing you waffle back and forth on it... sheesh" after a few hours of "should I or shouldn't I" between her and I over a game...

My wife is very tolerant. Her primary concern is space b/c she knows I don't overspend. As long as I don't try the old "this is for you". I'm much safer sticking with "look at my new purse/shoes/etc" She totally gets that.

/Insert annoying old guy advice

It really does not matter what your career / job is.. If you and (spouse if present) are happy with your situation (income spending etc).

There are a million books on how to get rich etc and most of them rely on you buying the book so the author gets rich. Probably my favorite is "The Millionaire Next Door". It's not what you think, it's about being reasonable and practical. I know a lot of people like this that are in various stages of making this happen.

Most important is spend less than you make aka 'Live below your means'. I don't know the Jones's, I don't live in their neighborhood and I have never wanted to keep up with them. I see them at work, in the paper and I even see there kids hanging around town. The Jones are not the richest people in your town/neighborhood/workplace/group of friends, everyone just thinks they are...
