So a guy posts ad on craigs for a Galaga...Mario bros..and elevator action..I get details about Galaga..he says 300...so I tell him send me pics...in meantime I told him consider it sold. Text him later to ask for multiple pics...he says " im not gonna make a huge photo gallery for you...don't want to waist my time selling it...you get four pics" ok...whatever dude. Texted him today to see if he sent pics yet....ya...he sold it to someone else! Does anyone have integrity any more? Wtf

Money talks. All it takes is for someone to offer a few dollars more then what the person is asking or what you were offering. I had a deal all setup. Rented a truck to go pick up games. Talked to guy the whole time. Told him I would be there at 4. As I was on my way (which was a 2 hour drive) I get a text saying he sold them. Talked about WTF. I was on my way to pickup the stuff and he sells when I am on the rode.

This Hobby is a snooze and lose one. I know ND is a wasteland and you probably had a long drive ahead of you. Best bet tho if you want a game is to get in a truck asap and head over for a look in person.

I have been so fortunate. Every single CL transaction I have ever had here in Houston has happened without a single hiccup. Matter of fact, the last three buys I've made- once I arrive to purchase- I find that they are fellow KLOVers!

No game is "considered sold" until you've handed over money. If it was "sold" you would have been on your way over without seeing pics. Considering you were still asking for pics over 24 hours later means that you only meant "sold for $300 if I like what I see in the pics but if I don't like what I see I'm going to offer you less and probably not buy it if you don't lower your price".

If you feel you need to negotiate price based upon condition, do it while you're there. Otherwise, if you're willing to pay $300 for a Galaga, go get it.

But I'd have wanted the Elevator Action myself...

I got one worst then that

I answered a cl ad for a outrun the guy wanted 150.00 I offered him 100.00 he said yes call him and come get it tomorrow. I e-mailed him back my phone number and told him to call me and I'd come get it. The next day I called him and he said he was going to go sell it to someone else for 150.00 but if I wanted it for 150.00 I could have it. So not only did he screw me, he was also willing to screw someone else. He told us we both had deals. Funny thing is he is a member here who only buys and sells does not help answer any questions, yet people still like him.

That happens to me all the time on CL they always tell me we have a deal and then change the terms. I have had them call me on the way there to tell me the number has changed cause someone offered them more, I have on all but 1 occasion said no thanks even if it was still a good deal. To me once you have a verbal or written contract you need to honor it. But I guess for some integrity is sold cheap like 50.00 for some.

Both story's suck but this one is bullshit. You had a deal and rented a truck. That money out of your pocket. I hate when people waste my time but to cost you money because they went back on a deal is so messed up.

Craigslist is a delicate "game".

If it's a great deal and I know it, I start to try to get a conversation going via phone or email. Get to know the seller, and make myself human. (struggle eh?) If you get to know a guy a bit, he isn't as likely to screw you.

I never think a deal is done until I hand over cash tough.

yeah this is completely your fault. You should have showed up with the cash, period. $300 for a galaga? I wouldn't take many pics either.

I understand that a deal is not a deal till money in hand....but Minneapolis is 6 hours sway...I can't just "go check it out" and I asked for pics 24 hours later cause he hadn't sent any yet. I'm not gonna drive that far on someones word either..I at least need a few pics. Its more the integrity and honoring an agreement between two people. The guy that I got the red dk had 12 people call in 2 days ...and some offered more...but I had first dibs and he honored that. I knew 99% that I was gonna get it...just had to see a pic to confirm...

Im sure u have way more options in la to just run and get it....but honestly...if I would have gotten in my truck immediately ...it would have still been sold by the time I got there...

agree on price on the phone. Then mention your an attorney, and thank them for the binding verbal agreement. Scare them into keeping the deal.

I dunno, did *He* say "okay, we have an agreement, I am selling it to you and it will be here when you get here" ? It didn't sound like that from your first post.

Maybe you should shorten your craigslist search radius too? I mean, 6 hour drive? Craigslist is just way too sketch for something like that.

I once had someone tell me on CL that they were def coming over and picking up my Shadow Dancer for I think it was $150. I moved it into the living room, about 5 ft. from the door... you guessed it; he never showed. There was no way that I was dragging that back to the arcade, because the whole point was to clear up space. I ended up giving it away for free. A couple days later, the guy calls me and says he was in the hospital and asks if I still have it. I doubt he would have come through even at that point.

Yes...I said consider it sold. Wanted pics to confirm it was even a Galaga... said 300 was fine...would come Sunday to pick up. Bottom line...the guy was a dick.

Too many people don't care anymore just want whoever will pay more doesn't matter how many people they step on. I emailed about a q bert nonworking for $50 one time got a reply back from the lady that bidding was up to $250 said what didn't know cl and eBay joined forces good luck with it. Now I would pay $250 for a decent non working q Bert but I have a choice and I wasn't gonna play her game so sometimes things work out other times they don't hopefully another deal comes your way as I'm sure it will.

*YOU* said consider it sold, but *HE* is the seller, so unless he said "I consider this sold to you and will have it here for when you get here" etc, then there was no agreement in any sense of the word
