POLL Has anyone sold an arcade game for $10k+?

a prototype Environmental Custer's Revenge sold for $11,400 in 2009 but that's the only one i've ever seen

It's not 10k but it seems to me a Monkey Magic PCB was bought by someone with MAME for $4000 so he could dump the ROMs.

I can imagine what a Bouncer or Vertigo would fetch if it turned up, probably 20k if not more.

Damnit...

I was looking at this thread in the drive thru this morning to get coffee. I was staring at this picture..completely spaced out, and the car behind me had to honk for me to move forward.

Hilarious pic...

Not asking price, but who's got that Cube Quest now? Was it complete and working?

It was complete and working when I sold it. As for the rest, check your email from 06/22/16 - we were discussing the backstory then ;)

The obvious answer is the guy that posted the wanted ad for a dedicated Major Havoc that was willing copay 10K for a really nice one.
I don't know that is necessary a market trend though, this is one guy that was willing to pay that to secure the game. Might get there soon enough though.

Pins there are a lot.
Cactus Canyon, a top shape Adams Family gold etc.
High end pins that are minty and home use only with low plays will bring this kind of money if they are immaculate (Monster Bash, Tales of the Arabian Nights etc).
There are some top level collectors that want the best of the best and willing to drop serious cash to get it.

Many of the prototypes pins are worth this kind of money like Magic Girl and I would bet if a Total Recall prototype popped up it would fetch that.

Arcade games it would have to be something very special (at least at this point in time).
Asside from the MH, I only know of one game that someone paid over 10k for and It was a very special and iconic bronze age game and the only one I have seen in person.
I suppose there are games that could pop up new in box and creates a special set of circumstances that would make it worth that, but as a general rule of thumb, there isn't that much that I would say is worth 10K or more in my opinion.

I would think the Battlezone Bradley trainer would be worth over 10K as this is not only an arcade game, its also a piece of militaria. It basically transcends multiple fields of collectibles.

I was told a few years ago (5-ish I think?) by the owner of one (not sure if others exist) that he was offered 20k for his, which he turned down

I know a few years ago of a minty Bega's Battle rumored to have sold for over $10k, I think was more like $12k?

I do recall someone saying they had a HUO Star Wars Cockpit that they sold for $10k. I happen to be lucky owner of one myself, I would most likely let mine go for that ;)

If someone out there really really wants my Paperboy Serial #00001, $10k sounds like a great offer to me :D

When you think about the kind of money the Militaria collectors spend on their hobby this does not surprise me.
Some of these guys buy things like legit tanks and half tracks and fully restore them.
For that matter go to an airshow, there are guys that legit own WWII fighter planes :D

people keep saying pinball even though the question was about arcades specifically I think...but that does bring up an interesting point.

Arcades seem to be going the way of pinball inflation a few years back so the top tier games may well be on their way to pinball crazy land.

10-15 years ago you would have seemed nuts to say any pin is worth 10k but now after years of crazy prices folks dont bat an eye...

even when Stern puts out whatever their latest shovel wear pin is people line up to spend crazy money.
