Has ANYONE seen a minty Galaxian since the 80's?

The last nice one that I saw was a unit that I refurbished myself back in 1995 or so. I used an NOS control panel overlay, but the sideart was gone/missing, so I had to sand it down and paint it an off-white color that was reminiscent of the original artwork background. Back then, replacement artwork was NOT an option!

I have been "on the lookout" for a nice one for quite some time now, but ALL of the machines that I have seen over the years are either too rough or the artwork is all scratched up or damaged. I'm really picky, so I have just about given up on finding one that would meet my personal expectations. And finding an original 25 inch monitor model in such condition is even MORE of a longshot than just finding a nice standard 19 inch model.

I have noticed that some artwork has recently become available on EBay, but I do not know what the quality is like. If it is nice enough, then perhaps I will just have to get a project cab and make a nice one myself. Unfortunately, I have WAY too many projects and not enough time to mess with them as it is...

I may be wrong but doesn't Rich from www.thisoldgame.com sell galaxian side art? And to your original question about seeing a nice one since the 80's. At least one member hear has one that looks like it was new out the box and it's an original not a restored game.

I believe Rich's repro is the best quality you will find available at the time. Keep in mind though that no one including Rich has found a good mach thus far for the original textured vinyl used on galaxian so none of the repro side art available will 100% accurate to the original. The art will be correct but the texture will not be.

i've not seen many galaxians in person, but from what i've seen online for sale and around, probably 90% of them have bad art, and discoloration on the paint.

Dan there (p1899m) was nice enough to take mine off of my hands a couple years ago. IIRC it is a pretty sweet piece.

Lee, there were marquees reproduced YEARS ago, not sure if any still around. I had one in my game, which I've since traded off. If you find 2 nice cabinets, send one my way.

I passed on one at an auction back in November for two reasons. One, I had purchased a bunch of other games, and would not have room for anythings else. But the other reason was due to the fact that I didn't think that there would be any replacement art available. I think that the "this old game" sidearm was only very recently released. Well, guess I can look for a cabinet now and not be too picky about it...

Mines not in bad shape, but the ink is definitely worn off in many places. The previous owner didn't take care of the crown staples in the Tmolding channel before installing the new stuff, so I've got the ripple effect to deal with as well. I plan on restoring mine someday, but for now, she'll stay as is.

I saw a really nice original one that Drew had for a while. I think it was all original, and I don't remember anything wrong with it. Except for the slow, boring gameplay! lol Let the Galaga/Galaxian wars begin!
