has anyone made an adaptor for simpsons/xmen/tmnt in a gauntlet cab??

has anyone tried this? I have looked over the manuals a little bit, and it seems like it should be possible. basically I would need header pins for the gauntlet wiring going to a standard jamma edge connector + kick harness.

In theory it should work.

now that I have a gauntlet cab, and if I could make this adaptor, I could take "konami jamma+ four player quarter eating cab" off of my list of cabs too have. unless a really nice looking machine comes along cheap.

it would be nice to be able to swap in the simpsons, x-men, tmnt, and the others that I can't think of right now.

It wouldn't be too bad to do, but without fabbing PCBs, it'd be pretty ugly.

I had a jammatized gauntlet and re-wired it to JAMMA w/ switchable adapters so it could play G1/G2 through a JAMMA adapter, or JAMMA games through kick harnesses, but switching boards isn't particularly "easy".

I set mine up so P2/P3 would go to the JAMMA edge connector so they'd be centered for 2P games, but you need to move some connectors around to make P1/P2 go to the harness for 4P games that only have kick harnesses for P3/4.

I tried doing that in a turtles cab but stopped because I would have had to adjust the monitor every game I switched. I do not have an auto sync monitor so the boards I swapped all needed readjusting. I thought about using a 6-n-1 switcher for the boards and rigging a serial port switcher to switch the kick harnesses just by opening the coin door and turning a knob. So I am saving up to get an auto sync monitor.

I can't be the first gauntlet owner to have this crazy idea. I know that rewiring the cab jamma would probably be the easiest way, but I will not hack up the original gauntlet wiring. If it can't be done with a moderately simple adapter, then I won't be doing it.

this is all hypothetical right now, my gauntlet cab is in storage and I don't have any of the konami 4 player quarter munching boards (yet :D).

Having recently picked up a Gauntlet, the first thing I thought about was building an adaptor to play 4 player Jamma games. I haven't looked into doing this yet, but the first thing that jumped out to me is that the Gauntlet boards don't use a edge connector. That complicates things as you can't just rewire as I was hoping. You would need some type of board to plug in the monitor connection, power conection, and joystics and then got to Jamma from there.

Where's Spaeth when we need him?

Let me know if you find anything out on this as I would be interested as well.
