Has anyone heard from DPTWIZ?

If that is the case, perhaps there someone in the community that has been considering starting up CNC work. You could give them a great deal on your equipment, with the condition that they also take on and complete your back orders? Everybody wins.

THIS ^^^^^

not knowing how many orders youve got
why not sell the cnc to pay off your back orders and call it a day?

if your not able to do full cabs maybe you could do some smaller things
back doors, control panels, bartop kits, etc. to bring in the money to pay off the large cabs you cant do now.

Id assume you have some wood/materials on hand for this so you wouldnt have any/much upfront costs
maybe needing assistance getting large sheets cut down to more manageable sizes

I agree, but if you demand the full amount before you start, this is completely unreasonable. Maybe a materials deposit or something like that, but there is absolutely no reason on God's green earth that ANYONE needs to pocket their profit weeks or months ahead of even starting the work. I understand specialty manufacturing and I also really, really, really understand flakey buyers. A situation like 1/2 down and the other half when production is complete seems pretty reasonable. I'm not suggesting to give customers credit accounts like some of the old timers do, but the idea of paying full price to get down to the bottom of a cue shows desperation by both the buyer and the seller.

bdn130, do you think it's reasonable to demand full payment before you have even thought about starting someone's work? I certainly don't and won't. Look at craftymech's signal generator sales. This is exactly how it should be done. Now when cabs are 1-offs, I think half down is reasonable and the remainder when the cab is ready to ship.

I'm really not an unreasonable person, but the idea of handing full price to someone you just met on the internet sounds about as smart as expecting some super cool, exotic invention off of a kickstarter campaign. Sometimes you are pleased, most times not so much.

Besides, wouldn't dpt be a lot better off at this very moment if he only took small deposits? Wouldn't his customers as well? Shit happens to the best of us. The idea of pocketing the profit off a sale months ahead of my expected delivery is completely foreign to me.

I agree with this.

Totally agree....I just can't get myself in a situation where I have upset customers...so I haven't been doing this. I may have to revisit the idea. Most of the cabinets I have listed on the website, profits are still significantly less then 50%, so it still is a loss if the customer backs out.

Brian

When a customer backs out, use their deposit to subsidize a discount.

I know there's a few cabs I would like to repro or have done. I would be willing to go help Brett out for 2-3 days to bang out a couple of cabs provided I got build 2 of my own to take with me (I would cover materials). But of course, the earliest date I would make the 10 hour trip each way and stay for a bit would be February. I don't know what he has for backorders, but if a couple of guys could do that we could help the guy out while helping yourself. Just a thought.

Hey, i'm still alive, sorry i haven't logged in since before new years, been dealing with alot of shit. I am now 5 weeks free of prescription pain meds.. been on them for 7.5 years. I wasn't addicted to them, but i was very dependent on them. One of the hardest things i've ever done, but i made it. Besides all the health problems i've covered before, i now need surgery on my left ankle. I had what i thought was tendonitis, went to a podiatrist after it wouldn't go away after a month.

Turns out i have a massive bone spur on my left heel, cutting into my achillies tendon. I walked with a very noticeable limp, and it was causing me to put all my weight on my left heel (i have severe nerve damage from the back surgery) and caused the bone spur. So, to fix it, they split your achillies vertical, then detach it at the bottom, grind out the bone spur, and reattach it all. 1 month in a wheelchair, 1 month on crutches, and 6 weeks learning to walk again. Not looking forward to it at all. I have to learn to walk normal again before they will even operate on it. how the hell am i going to walk normal in my current state? i have no idea...

Good to hear from you sir! Glad you are off the pain meds.

Good luck with that ankle.

Keep your spirits high and the body will follow.

Have you seen his work? Maybe you should speak from something you know.

He's been permabanned so he's unlikely to read your post.

I have to say that he was an asshole that stirred up a lot of trouble. He's best forgotten.

Congrats on kicking the pain meds, Brett, that's great!

Has your back improved at all?

Your In my prayers dptwhiz
I talked to you only briefly once or twice about a tron cabinet at least a year ago and you were very clear you couldn't take on any more work and in pretty bad shape/pain
Living in Pain is no joke and I pray you get some relief and healing.

Man, I thought things were going better for you. Hang in there.

For those that are owed money and/or product, I feel for you too. It would be easier if DPTwiz was a scammer. Then we could just be angry and move on.
