Has anyone heard from DPTWIZ?

I'm in the same situation. Patient but not too hopeful at this point that I'll ever see anything.
I haven't pinged him in a number of months but at least he did used to respond whenever I reached out.

I do not get why people will say they are issuing a refund when they have no intention of doing so. I would have more respect for someone who said right now I do not have the funds but I am hoping that by xxxxxx I will be in a position to refund your money. Or how about $50 per month until it's paid back. Or $25 per month, something that shows you are making an effort.

Sorry to say but you'll probably have to kiss your money goodbye. Also as i understand it, his work isn't even that great.

That would be the first time I've EVER heard anyone say that. All I've ever heard was high praise. A lot of it.

My guess is that he did intend to. What happened after that I don't know. He's been really upfront about what's happened to him and I just don't see him making a promise that he didn't intend to honor.

Is he still cutting cabs or anything? From what I remember, he was having problems with physical labor... but if that's the case, I'd think there'd be a local KLOVer that would be willing to help do the heavy lifting (I certainly would be willing to spend a weekend helping him load and unload boards if I lived nearby). But I also remember hearing of money problems from medical bills and stuff... so maybe the wood was never purchased, equipment was sold off, etc. If he needs to raise some funds, maybe he can cut smaller things that he can handle himself, like the keychain holders he used to do?

I wish him the best either way, and hopefully he can make things right in some way. I never got the feeling that he was trying to screw anyone over, and if he hasn't gone completely off the radar, maybe he still does think he can work things out. But I feel for those that purchased something and still have their order in limbo as well.

You are wrong. I bought a TRON cab from Brett a few years back and it is top of the line.

My Ms Pac cabinet that I got from Brett was nice, but far from top of the line. The cabinet was 1/4" too skinny, causing the monitor bezel and control panel to "bind" when trying to install them. The cabinet handle openings were also cut the wrong size, being too large for the midway cabinet handles. And the back door warped pretty badly after a year, probably due to the material used. And the cabinet was missing a panel used to block coin door access. I had to fabricate my own and install it.

You can read more here.

The cabinet is beautiful, no doubt. But I had to put in a fair amount of work to use it. More than I wanted to. For a thousand bucks, I had expected it to be "drop-in" ready.

Original cabs in mint condition are "top of the line".

Reproductions are just a facsimile and will never be anything else.

I'd argue with you on this point. Due to the type of wood used and the paint job that it has, I'd say my DPTwiz cabinet is as close to "factory original" as you're going to get in any respect. And it's super clean with zero mold and wood rot. It's worth MORE than an original survivor, in my opinion. Repro? Yes. But a faithful reproduction, done as close to Midway specs as possible.

i am still alive. Not even going to address anyone who claims my work is subpar if you've never bought from me. I dropped the ball on logging in and keeping people updated. Yes, my health still sucks, maybe armi0024 (i think that's his name on here) Bryan Armitage who owns paradise arcadeshop. He's a surgeon, and does back surgeries, and has been trying to help me with getting a revision surgery with a surgeon he knows and recommends highly, but it hasn't been working out with communications with the other surgeon.

I had my spinal cord stimulator implant removed (caught MRSA when i had it put in) as it no longer worked for me, and i couldn't get an MRI with it in place. I got that out, healed up, got new MRI's done, and have been trying my best to find a surgeon who can actually fix me. I have limited mobility, i can't lift anything over 25 pounds, (i can, but i pay dearly for it for days) and am really close to using a cane to get around.

I still have all my shop equipment, albeit dusty. I still have the list on the wall of everyone i owe a cabinet. I have every intention of finishing it all. I have a fixed income now, and it doesn't even cover the house bills. my wife works her ass off so we have enough money to be broke. It's no fun having to go to churches to get donated food. I actually agreed to ship Jennibear's cabinet to her, it's been cut for ages and on a shelf. I did have someone from her area who was supposed to pick up a game from me he bought years ago i have in storage, but he still hasn't. Worst case scenario, i get paid on the 1st, and i'll UPS jennibears cabinet to her.

If i owe you something, please write my number down. I still have the same number, still live at the same address, and i'm almost always home, it's 419 457 0100. To everyone else who has sent me messages asking about cabinets or wood parts, i'm currently not making anything obviously. again, sorry to everyone.. between the health problems, depression, financial woes etc, i just kind of shut down and didn't keep up with things. Yes, i've tried to get help over here, and no one lives close to me that's willing to help.

smalltownguy is correct, his cab was jacked up. ended up being an issue with my CNC. i've made dozens of those, but i didn't catch the error on my machine till after it was done.

Im $550 US, and 3+ years in as well. Conversed here and there with him on Facebook, but nothing positive to say. I always have hope, but now I worry EVEN if he makes it, the quality of materials being used and workmanship due to his tough times financially and physically will be the cause of it.

I even offered for him to pay me back in parts, etc, but even thats off the table right now.

I like Brett, he is struggling, and I feel for him. I call him a friend, but I just wish this whole thing was handled differently, and he organized a solution to this by now.

$550 US is not a small chunk of change to simply vanish with nothing to show.

It's fine, Brett, we talked together on this and I'm aware your table was mis-calibrated when mine was cut. You and John Popson did an AMAZING job on the cab, and I will never let it go - it's easily one of the nicest things I've ever owned. I'm 100% happy with the way things turned out, and I'm 100% pissed that you are fighting this battle you are fighting with your health. Just think about how much more you could be contributing to the hobby if you were at full strength. I hate it.

Thanks for chiming in....

I think this warrants a true "go fund me" campaign. I believe the community should bond together to help you, and arrange for enough funds to hire a good helper, and get your backorders out.

Set it up Brett, or have a friend set it up, I for one will donate to get this all done, plus it WILL finally get the stress off your mind and shoulders.

Do the gofundme, people respect and help for legit reasons. This is a legit reason.
