Has anyone ever tried the Vector VGA interface or have one their not using for sale.

I saw it on the internet and I thought it might be fun to check it out. Of course I am having a problem with my Tempest everything on the monitor is a horizontal line :(. I replaced the boardset which went bad at the same time as the monitor aparently. I wonder if its possible the monitor took out my new boardset, dont know, need to do more troubleshooting.

Sounds like you have a bad defection transistor.

The conversion board works great. However some

people feel it does not give the full electric crisp

effect of a real vector image. I tend to agree. But it

is a good reliable alternative. Vector monitor repair

is tedious and time consuming. Bringing one back

to working order does yield a great sense of accomplishment.

The board is a neat invention that gives people a way

to have a working game again.

Star wars, ESB, Black Widow and gravitar all have scan rate issues. Bits and pieces of the picture are missing, yet very much playable. The big drawback is that you cannot match the brightness generated by a 6100 or amplifone. The tinted glass or plexi will have to be replaced so you can see the image.

my 2 cents

That ebay auction is funny... the guy wrote it as if it was an UPGRADE to stick a raster monitor in that bad boy. Look at the monitor image pic... see the glow of the background? That's not supposed to look like that. While I agree it's "better than nothing", it sure as hell isn't as nice as a real WG6100 in there...

Dave,

I would be happy to try to help with the WG6100. have had some luck with them.

If you decide to upgrade, LMK and maybe I can get the 6100 from you.

I do agree that a real vector monitor is the best way to play the games.

Would not be right without a vector monitor. I have a dedicated Tempest and also have Tempest on my 100-1. No comparison. I dont think you will be happy without a vector. JMO
