Has anyone ever converted a (Super) Hang-On/Enduro Racer to Space Harrier? I am trying to help out Jumblejunkie, his board died and he can't find anyone to fix it for under $500. He is thinking about MAMEing it out of desperation, which I want to prevent

I have converted an Enduro Race pcb to Space Harrier. Luckily I had an extra non-working Space Harrier board with good roms. It was just a ROM swap - and I also swapped the CPUs just in case, they looked different on both boards.

Super Hang-On and Space Harrier boards are not compatible for a ROM swap.

In full support of this! Not sure why that manual is so elusive online.

Some companies still pursue cease/desists for manual distribution. Stern is one. Gottlieb another. Sega may do so as well, not sure.

EDIT: Wait a sec... Jumblejunkie? Please tell me he is not/not related to that dip shit Jumblestore/Jumblegames who got banned a while back.

I think its more a case of this particular manual just being overlooked. The schematics seem to be available everywhere, and I managed to find the deluxe sit-down version of the manual, but have only seen reference to the upright being posted years back, on jamma+ I think. And there's no issue with other Sega owners manuals so I think this is just a fluke.

JumbleJunkie is a completely different dude, located out of Maine, nice guy, has a Youtube Channel and a Podcast.

Is it possible to convert a super hang on then? I was told (today actually) that its only possible to convert an enduro racer?

Not Super, that runs on Out Run hardware. Original Hang-On should be possible as it runs on Space Harrier hardware. The Super Hang-On on that page is either a factory conversion of a Hang On board or a Bootleg.

Notes : This is either a conversion for the original Hang-on machine or a bootleg version which runs on hangon/space harrier hardware, it is worth mentioning due to the fact that looking at the program files it must have had to be reprogrammed extensivly to work on this new hardware.

Sorry to bump a super old thread, but did anything ever come of this? I recently came upon a Hang On board and I would be super interested in knowing if this is now a possibility.

I have made the conversion.
Hang on will not work on the conversion.
Totally different sound boards.

I have done the Enduro to Space Harrier.
51 total roms are needed.
