I am trying to locate the pink and yellow paint for Ms Pac Man. Home Depot, at least mine no longer carries the colors that I found (Passion Flower and Sunny Side Up). They claim to not be able to color match. Does anyone have matching colors that they have recently found at Home Depot or Lowes

Do NOT use Passion Flower or Sunny Side Up if you find thrm. They are way too light.

Did you color match yours?
No, I didn't know how to without bringing the whole cab so I just repainted all the pink with the Passion Flower (was hoping to only touch up) but the Sunny Side Up isn't even close. Also, get Semi-Gloss paint if you find a match.

The yellow and especially pink faded really badly on those, so I don't think the 'correct' color will match for touch ups on a faded cabinet anyhow.

No two ms pacs are the same color at this point and throughout the multi year run of the machine many shades of paint were used. There's no 'right' answer here, no matter how much jr pac acts like he knows for sure :)

I just completely took down to bare wood and restored my Ms. Pac about a month ago. A couple of thoughts here:
1. Depends on how "well" you want to do it. Do you want to touch up or are you repainting entire sections? Or are yous tarting from scratch?
2. I would always recommend oil - not latex. Now opinions are like....Everyone has one, so don't be surprised if there are a lot of opinions on this as well. That said, oil is much more durable and resists the torture of use. In my case I used a base coat/clear coat automotive paint by PPG. It is their OMNI line and I sprayed it with an HVLP. Came out beautifully.
3. With respect to matching the colors, Sherwin Williams can match them just fine. My opinion is that the colors in the database - passion flower, sunny side up, etc are just fine. The problem is that you will need a sample for them to match because they can't just pull the paint code and do it. Or at least they couldn't for me. Luckily I had access to samples of the correct paint in latex so it was easy to match.
4. If you can wait a couple of weeks (I'll be busy until then) I would be happy to provide you with color samples on cardboard that you can take in and have matched.
Pics of mine are below. Best of luck to you.
Cheers,
Ray

I've seen quite many unfaded original Ms. Pacs and none have had colors exactly like the Glidden so that's where I've based my opinion from. I may be wrong on some. I'm not at all trying to act like I know everything about the topic, but that's what I've seen and understand. Every one I've seen had a magentaish color as opposed to a hot pink. If it's slightly faded, it's a very slim chance that it MAY match.

Op: What's your SN? Do you have any images of the game in question?

I'd like to argue the point that unless you kept these cabs in a photo darkroom for the past 30+ years then there is going to be some degree of fading to them regardless.

I don't see whay they could not color match. All you have to do is bring in a sample of what you want matched, about the size of a eraser on a pencil. I used to workat a place and match paint all the time and that is all you need and they can get it very close. If you are using house paint you will have a hard time finding oil based paint that they can color.

Plus by the time jp.pac was born these were allready at least 20 years old so they all would have fading on them. It is going to be vary hard to color match anything that is 30 years old and get it right unless you have the paint codes from when they first made these.

I am not doing spot touch ups. The "pink" and yellow is so faded on the front of mine that I will end up painting all of the pink. Maybe I should just focus on somehow match the colors on the sides, where it is not nearly so faded.

Paint Pens

Does anyone still sell those paint pens for Ms. Pac & Pac-Man upright cabinets?

Thanks,

Vic S.
