I picked up this LA Riders a few months ago non working.

The previous owner had taken it to Game Exchange in Denver to repair it but they only fixed the Monitor, it came back with the analog input not working.

I pulled the board and sent it out to @irepairsega (who is a huge asset to the community!) he found the custom chip on the input circuit was dead.

I spent some time yesterday cleaning the filthy cab - I ALWAYS forget to take before pics. 🤦‍♂️

I also got the replacement rectangle buttons tanks to @Mylstar installed and the gas tank plastic cleaned up.

Next thing I need to do is address the broken seat.

I first I thought there was a brake light missing since there are wires running into the seat but I realized it's actually for a Bass Actuator.

The whole thing was loose, I tightened it down and found the missing screw in the bottom of the seat.

I have some black textured ABS I think I'm going to use that to make a band that will cover the broken back of the seat.

I've got a friend who wants one of these badly. Harley guy not collector. Yours is looking clean. Ken is super helpful for these Sega repairs. Fixed my Thunder Blade audio issue and my Super Hang On graphics issues.

Another thing I need to do is find some of the large leg levelers. Only one on the cab still has it foot and one on the seat is missing half its nylon. I'll have to check what the thread size is but I'm guessing its 1/2"

Nice! Mine also has some damage to the back of the fender, so I'll enjoy seeing what you do there. FYI apparently the handlebars aren't supposed to just fall to the right when not being held (mine does the same). One of these days I want to fix mine but it's low priority. If you're not familiar with that fix, lmk and I'll dig up the post (I thought I had it open or bookmarked or something but not seeing it at the moment).

I'm both a Harley guy and a collector. :)

Yeah I was reading that thread too.

The handlebars of a real bike alway go to the side of the kick stand when parked so I'm not worried about it, its tracks straight down the road while playing.

Well, on a real harley the kickstand is on the left so the handlebars naturally go left. It's never particularly bothered me either, but one of these days when I get around to it, it would be nice to give it the proper functionality and feel.

If you plan on keeping this thing, I think if it was me, I'd take the black part of the seat off and take it to a good upholstery shop and have them make a nice padded leather seat cover for it.

First step in repairing the seat was inspecting the support structure.

It was obvious that there was not enough support for the rear section of the seat, the orange plastic broke on either side of those MDF support ribs.

Before doing anything with the tail of the seat I needed to beef up the support. A block of a 2x3 glued and screwed in worked perfectly.

(Didn't get a photo of 2 screws countersunk on each side)

Next I cut a 3" strip of 1/8" thick textured ABS and put it in the oven at 220° for a few minutes until it was soft and formed it around the tail of the seat.

Marked and drilled the holes for the top bolts and drilled additional holes on the sides for carriage bolts.

These are the feet I need to find.

I'm going to remove the one good one from the main cabinet so the seat section has two good feet. I'll probably just get two standard 1/2" bolts for the front of the cabinet for now so I can run them down in the front so it doesn't move around on the wheels from people playing it.

Those are likely 1/2"-13 leveling feet. Confirm the thread and everyone from grainger to amazon stocks them.

No, that I know its a 1/2" thread foot. Ive posted multiple links to equipment feet.

Im delivering this today so I dont have time to mess with getting all new feet for the whole cab. Plus itd be lots o dough.

Two good feet for the seat and a way to get the cab from rolling around is all it needs.

The carrage bolts worked great for leveling feet. Much better than the jacked up original feet. I just had to lower them enough to prevent the casters from rolling easily.
