Hardly Drivin'

Hypothetically, yes :)

Bought my first HD yesterday :D !

So....if we leave out the hypothetically part...could you either have printed up extra sets of the artwork or share the files so I can have them printed locally (I'm in Europe) ?

Would be great !

Did you ever get that Hi-res tail end graphics ?

Here's my first HD:

Thank you gentlemen. I am currently struggling with the steering potentiometer. I verified it's working but I just don't know what pins on the POTS A header they need to connect to. Someone rewired something and now I have no idea what is powered by the "pots A" pins and how to hook everything up. I'm almost there though!!

Very nice!! I did not get the tail-end graphic sadly. If you could send me a high res shot of yours I will replicate it to the best of my ability. I will PM you about the graphic files.

I think we can do better, we can scan it with one of those "see through" HP scanners. It looks to be in quite good condition on my HD !
:)

If you want I can also ask my good friend Etienneodk if he can vectorize it (surprised it has not been done yet !) or else you can do it ?

The side-art was vectorized I assume ?

I noticed that the arm of your chair has a yellow/black striped decal...seems the Irish HD's didn't come with them...
I also seem to be missing the central "stand up" piece of metal on the steering wheel.
But I won't "capture" your thread with my HD...

This is going to be an interesting project, since we're going to pick up another HD next saturday :)

I can't believe you are going to have 2 Hard Drivin' cockpits! That's awesome.

Yes to having your friend vectorizing the tailend graphic if possible. I did not vectorize these graphics. I did it very low tech taking several pictures of the sideart, puzzling them together, then painstakingly tracing each layer at 600dpi at god knows what magnification. Each color layer within the file is separate so it would be easy for someone to change it vector I imagine. I started to but it was taking too long. There was a little bit of warping doing it the way I did it but the graphics guy who printed it for me took a large picture of the overall graphic and tweaked it to fit correctly.

The chair of my Hard Drivin' did not have the black/yellow striped sticker on the seat arm either. It did have the plastic apron thing though. May have just been a Race Drivin' thing after some people lost some toes/fingers on Hard Drivin' lol.

Here's your steering wheel cap NOS

***On a side note*** I put in a new 25" Makvision monitor from TwistedQuarter. It looks great!! Pictures to follow.

Here's the monitor installed. I have to either make a new paper bezel or order a plastic one.

I've ordered a bezel from Twisted Quarter but I imagine it may be too curved for this monitor which seems to be in between flat and regular tube curve. If it doesn't work, then I will use it on my free Dynamo 25" cab I got and I will make the paper one. We shall see...

Looks great !

Is that the original tube ?? Because of the straight corners it looks pretty modern...

But it has to be a med res tube because it's the cockpit version.

I bought the 2nd HD to use the electronics from that one, apart from 3 defective rams it seems to work. The first one is in better external shape but has a bad monitor and the game boards don't sem to run.

We hope to end with two working machines though...

Didnt see your pm about the artwork yet ? I'm sure Etienne can do the vectoring if I ask him nicely.

Small bump....

The first HD is now in my game room so it won't be long until we scan the tail-end.

Let me know if you still need it. I'd be very grateful if we could get the graphics files you did in return.

Cheers, André

I need a replacement main board set for this cockpit. I tried fixing a steering issue and after I reseated my roms all I get is an addressing issue and no boot into the game. I'd love to rule out the boardset as the issue for the steering so if you have an extra one you'd be willing to part ways with for money and help me complete this long and arduous project, please PM me.

Thanks for watching,

Aaron

Hey all... I am taking a loss and once again selling my machine and all spare parts. I have two extra boards and a ton of various parts and boards. I am selling the machine and all parts for $350. The monitor and video all works, basic tests come back ok. The seat button and abort are not connected so I have not gotten into advanced tests. Unfortunately it just scrolls drive over and over if it is taken out of test mode.

The game is located in Elwood, Indiana.
