I have a Hard Drivin' upright with a flaky monitor. All I get is a thin white line, midway down, horizontally. It also ticks. I took the marquee and light fixture out, and can kinda see the chassis. I looked and looked, and the only stickers I see say WG- 477163. That sticker is on the tube and again on the chassis.

It has a light brown chassis board, and some big resister looking thing on the red flyback wire.

It's a 25" monitor.

I know it's kinda vague, but any ideas? I'd like to know what it might be before I take it out for repair, as it looks like a real nightmare to remove from the game.

Thanks very much!

it should be a standard rez wells k7000. Take a pic, but the chassis probably looks like this:

You do not have to remove the monitor. Pretty sure you can get the chassis out of the top access door. If not you should be able to get it out with the speaker/light fixture mounting wood removed.

Thanks!

I'm not going to remove the tube, just the chassis. I cannot remove it via the access door, as the game is 1/32 of an inch from the ceiling.

I already have the marquee and light fixture removed.

I always thought Hard Driving and Race Driving were medium resolution monitors? But I just looked it up and the cockpits were medium, while uprights use a standard res.. Weird.

If your monitor is ticking, you need a hot and prolly a flyback.. Cap it too!

This thing seems to have no remote board.

EDIT

I found the number 204-2205-07 on the edge of the board, so with Google, I found this image:

This is what I have.

Yuck.. You have a k7000 made by another company.. Flybacks are not available for that chassis. Your gonna have to find a replacement chassis man. :(

Of course I am. Why wouldn't it turn out this way? I remember something going my way once. I think it was in the mid 1980's. Since then, a never-ending series of events like this.

Will a regular Wells K7000 work on my tube?

Thanks for the help!

yes, regular k7000 25" chassis will work. Find a replacement, the zenith k7000 is not worth fixing.. 25" k7000 has the taller heat sink. by the big cap on the top right.

I'm actually finishing up a couple k7000 25" chassis.. All new caps, fly, lots of new solder, and nos remote pcbs. It's to bad your not local, as I usually mate them with new burn free donor tubes. So you'd have an almost brand new monitor. Pm me if your interested in a chassis.
