So you guys know that I'm in the process of restoring my HardDrivin' cockpit. I got the monitor board back from Chad today and I think my yoke might be shorted. No signs of life at all, getting power to the board. It's a K5515...I'm going to pull it back off tonight to see if the board is cracked...what a let down after waiting 2+ months. Not Chad's fault...

On another note, anyone know what options I have for an LCD monitor? Your help is greatly appreciated, so close to having this done...if so, can you point me to one that would work?

did chad send you the bottlecap transistor that mounts on the big heatsink?

Also yeah definitely cracked. Bummer.

Looks like an easy fix though. Scrape the solder mask off and tin the traces on each side of the break. using a clipped resistor lead, wire, or a old piece of desildering braid, solder that on to jump that gap where its cracked.

I prefer desoldering braidn but if you have alot of traces next to each other it might be a better idea to use insulated wire.

FYI you have at least tewo more breaks above the "055"

Boy, you're right. I didn't look that close. There is at least two more cracks, with two broken traces. Not sure about the bottlecap, will check that out to see...Thanks for the guidance! Hoping I can get this fired up soon.

Cadillacman - also, do you know of any LCD's what will fit/work with this if I need to go that route down the road?

I agree with Cadillacman - bridge the traces first, and see if you can get it back to life.

Before you power up, check from pad to pad to make sure your bridge is solid. You can even use de-soldering braid as a bridge - all you need is a decent conductor.

Lets hold off on any LCD talks until we figure out if we can get this one back up and running. This looks like an easy fix.
