I posted this in another section then decided it should be here. Also, I was a little pissed when I typed the other one.

I'm having some issues with the monitor in this beast. It seems like it's not getting the signal to "turn on" if that makes any sense.

To get it on I have to basically push, pull, tug on any random wires either up where the monitor is or down where the game boards are. I've tried to find a pattern on which wires I mess with but there isn't one.

Once it's on, it works great for any number of hours. No issues. Once I turn it off, then I get to play the wire game again.

I have yet to clean out the dust in this thing so I can't exactly tell what the monitor board is. I did find a sticker floating around in the cab and I believe this is the monitor 25k7101.

The problem with the monitors in this game is all cabinet related. They were jam packed into such a confined space that they literally cooked themselves to death. Your issue is most likely cracked solder joints. It's a pain in the ass to work on these but you're gonna have to do it.

there is an access door ontop of the cabinet. you probably have cold solder joints on the monitor board. Its a pain to pull the monitor out, but you should have enough room to access the monitor board from the top door.

Open the door power it up and touch the video connector on the monitor board. If that makes it come up, then there is your problem. You might be able to solder it without pulling the monitor board, but you should pull it and recap it.

If you can't get the monitor board out through the top, the monitor slides out of the top after you remove the marquee and the wood frame behind it. monitor shelf will slide out once you remove the bolts.

I've been through that already. I will definitely cap it.

About an hour ago, I checked for neck glow and there is none. This is some weird shizzle to me.

It seems like the monitor isn't getting power.

I did my normal bump this pull that and I got it on for the night. As soon as I turn it off, it's another round of The Wire Game!

Just want to mention that I did swap power supplies just in case. Checked my voltages and they are all good. When I get the chance I will check the monitor with my meter when it's playing dead.

Thanks for the help and please keep ideas coming.

Would a video help of the inside of the cab? Maybe you guys could spot something I'm missing?

One other thing that is happening is sometimes when I get it to come on, the first screens where you have to turn the steering wheel 4 times. When you finish that part and turn the key for the next screen the monitor will shut off when changing screens for the next step. Most of the time I can get through that, but when you have finished calibrating the controls and turn the key for the game to start, it will flash and the monitor will shut off.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

You shouldn't have to calibrate every time either. That means your NVRAM is bad and needs replacing (it also means high scores won't be saved).

Damn Frizz your good. I was wondering why the high scores weren't being saved. I was actually trying to figure out where the battery was!!!!

What the friggin hell do I do now??

Don't think there is a solution to the nvram. If so, I would like to fix mine..

k7000 will shutdown if its out of spec. You should rebuild it and see if the problem continues.

If you think its a bad wire, run a new one from the transfomer to the monitor. you don't have to feed it though, run it outside and see if it fixes the problem.

I can live with calibrating it each time and no high score save. Will order the kit from Bob Roberts to rebuild. Will report back when complete.

Thanks for the help.

Didn't I read somewhere (maybe Jed's site?) that the ones on the other boards aren't actually used? So, maybe you could swap them, if they're the same chip.

I'm new to the hobby and I'm sure this has been asked more but I'll shoot.

The monitor on my Hard Drivin' upright is working, but the image shrinks and converges to a horizonal line about 2/3 of the way up the screen, then expands and fills the rest of the screen.

Does anyone know what causes this issue? Does it need capped?

I hope that made some sense. Im at work now and dont have picture handy to post of it. Later tonight I'll try and get up a picture or video to explain what I am talking about.

I'd appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Doots
