I know all of you are against converting your arcade monitors out for VGA, LCD and such. I can respect that. I however have a hard drivin" compact that I would like to change out, but I am a little lost.

I have purchased the CGA to VGA converter already. Here is the manual:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/...iTKeuG6tiiYGH1zM/edit?hl=en&authkey=CKjMucgM#

I bought this particular hard drivin from a guy last week for $40. It is in pretty rough shape, but I would like to get it going again before I start ripping into it to restore cabinet. I have everything hooked up as I think it should be and I can kind of see a little bit of the screen kind of. It looks very wacked out, then it will go to no signal on the monitor. It just goes back and forth like it kind of has a signal ans then looses it.

My real question I have is do these cards convert to vga and an acceptable range to be displayed on any lcd or crt? Or do they still use the prior range and I will need to find a monitor that will work correctly with it. The minutor I am currently using is an NEC Multisync.

Let me know of there is anymore information I can provide.

Thank you!

If the monitor can handle a VGA signal than the converted signal should sync. However, I have heard of many perople having problems with these converters not working correctly.

What monitor was originally installed? I ask because the "full size" HD game came with a med res (EGA) and the compact came with a standard (CGA).

I have a hard drivin cockpit, but it is against the wall in the shop and the casters collapsed. I might be able to yank it out, but it is a medium resolution.

I have tried about everything I can think of. I have also verified the monitor works on my computer just fine.

Post a pic of how you have the video wires pinned out etc. sync should be on the terminal marked s, ground on the terminal marked g.

if you have color on the screen but its not syncing/ looks like watching scrambled porn( lol) then mabye you have the video ground and sync wires reversed, or dont have the sync or video ground hooked up., or the converter just plain sucks.

You might have todo some sort of signal search or something once its all hooked up. It supposedly has on screen controls so even without a signal inputted id assume you should still see a on screen menu.

Nice description (scrambled porn). There is a 5 pin connection. R,GR,B, G,S

I have the red, blue and green going to the first three. I then have ground and sync connected to the last two. If I have the ground in the wrong spot the led on the card does not light up. I have tried the autoscan and set the output for 640 x 480 and this was the only way I could get the scrambled look. I am going to drag an LCD home tomorrow and see if I can get anywhere with it.

I would assume I have it connected correctly. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks guys!

Just had a friend do this with one of those cards on a Cruisin' USA (medium resolution CRT chassis quit). He used a 26" LCD. It looks great!

Well I took the converter out to the shop and threw it in my golden tee 98 and it did come up and run, but it was very sketchy as well. It would work part of the time and then only parts of the screen would flake out.

I am at work and still thinking about this. The gbs-8220 card has a composite input. I think it might be a good test to see if my sons wii would output to vga. That might be a good way to test out the card and the power source at the same time.

I will try that tonight.

I refer you to the same site as in your other post.
Go to the bootm of the link and you will find information From Jed (Engineer) who made one for his Race Drivin Cockpit version. Not sure what the Race Drivin sit down units had in them for resolution monitors.

The cockpit has a medium resolution and the compact has a standard. I have seen that link before. It might do me some good if I were more electronics savvy.

Thank you for your reply!
