While everyone was in a bidding war over a B&K 490B on eBay, I scooped up this nice looking untested 480 with a pile of adapters for $80 shipped:

I know untested is a crapshoot, and I was ready to do some repairs on it, but I tested it on a junker 25" tube with crazy Aero Fighters burn and a dim picture, and it seems to work just fine. The monitor is missing its chassis, so I won't know what the end result looks like until I throw a spare in… But I'm still figuring out how this tool works.

It was estimated to arrive on Monday, but got here a couple days early, right on my birthday. Cheers to that!

I actually think untested is less of a problem with something like this because most folks wouldn't have the first clue as to what to do with it, so you can see why they might never have tested it.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was banking on. I doubt "normals" generally have garages full of open-frame CRTs, and wouldn't be inclined to break open a CRT television to mess with, if they still have one.

From what I read, these are simple to repair, but it's nice that it seems to be good to go.

Sweet! and happy Birthday :)
Sweet! And happy birthday. :)
Thanks guys!

Welcome to the rejuv club, Ian! I lucked out and got a working 490 uncontested a couple of years ago so it was quite cheap. It's a great tool to have. Happy birthday!

Not to hijack, but do you have any guides to repairing these things? I have a 466 that isn't completely working, and need to eventually dig into it.

Niiiice and clean.
Happy Day-o-birth

I don't. Maybe the 467 service manual here will be helpful: http://antelopearcade.com/files/?dir=BK-Precision CRT Rejuvenator

From what I understand, the 466 & 467 are very similar.
