Happy Birthday to me: another vector - Omega Race!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have SOUND!! Woot! :dance3:

Thanks to Nerdtendo, I was able to procure another boardset with a sound PCB in better condition. Mine had some pretty bad battery acid damage on it. The socket also had some corrosion, which I was able to neutralize with vinegar and remove with a light abrasive.

I spent some time cleaning her up today, and upon closer inspection, I'd say that this is better than an 8 out of 10, I'd say it's closer to 9 to 9.5. There's one tiny cigarette burn on the side near the hinge, a very slight amount of flaking on the underside mask of the glass (easily repainted) and the T-molding has one break near a curve at the P1 control panel. Other than that, this table looks like new. It really is a pretty piece.

Nerdtendo's boardset that I received looks like it may be repairable, so I'm going to give it a go. It sure would be nice to have 2 working main boards for this game.

Now that the game is fully working, I'd like to get some manuals for it. Does anyone have a set of manuals for Omega Race and a Wells Gardner 15V2000 monitor that I can buy? I'd like to buy originals if I could.

Still tinkering with this one...my V2000 has blooming. I thought a HV diode would take care of it, but no go.

What else causes blooming on these vector monitors?

Have you rebuilt it yet? I know it's silly to recommend shotgunning for every problem, but a v2000 kit from Bob is less than $20. Just saying. :p

I haven't rebuilt this chassis yet. But I DO have the same chassis in my Asteroids deluxe, and THAT one has been rebuilt. I swapped them.

I also rebuilt the power supply section with the 4 caps that Bob's kit comes with.

Between swapping the 4 caps on the high voltage board and the new chassis from AD, she's rock solid now.

Looks like I need to rebuild the other chassis. I ordered the rebuild kit from Bob Roberts.

I'll burn test this cocktail for 24 hours and see how she is tomorrow morning.

*fingers crossed*
