Happiness, Sadness... and Irony.

That is funny and sad at the same time. So I gotta ask....how much did you pony up for the game?

With or without the truck repair bill? LOL

The game was $400. It's not working, I'm planning on combining it with another NFS that I have to get at least one working game. If I'm lucky, I'll eventually get both going.

Todd how much did those Tokyo Drift drivers go for? any idea.

That's crazy, it had to suck.
There is always that saying. It could of been worse.

"What if the game you had in the back was Hydro Thunder?" I'd hate to imagine the irony in that.

LMAO! You can't make this stuff up!

@EagleGT...The pic of your truck on the rollback should be your avatar. :)

Todd,
That sucks! Hope you got home OK, and the repair bill isn't too killer.

Good to see you... been a while! I had to do a double take when I saw you. Was like, hey, I know that guy!

So thats a regular Need For Speed? I think that Underground is much more fun (coming from a non driving game fan).

Yep... Took a break from the hobby for a while. :)

I didn't know your name on the group here. Just to be doubly sure, you are Mike that has the arcade in York, right?

We have some winners... (Quoting myself for sheer egotistic reasons.)

i vote fuel pump

I personally think it's fuel system related (common on this model truck)

I've read that the S10/Sonomas can have "intermittent" issues with the fuel pumps that don't always show up in static garage testing.

I did have to replace the fuel pump at around 100k.

If it is indeed the fuel pump a lot of time you can tap on the tank and get it to work again.

Fuel pump was the magic answer. And in even more irony (?), the FIRST game I move after the repair was ANOTHER NFS:GT I've picked up (that makes 3, LOL). Ahh, sweet retribution. The truck handled this like it was nothing (first time since I've owned this 'noma that it's been awesome like my old one was).

yeah, even if the pressure doesn't bleed back in the pump, they can heat up and take a shit, and then magically start working again once it cools off.

the nice thing about that particular model is that 4 bolts and you and 3 friends can pick up the bed and take it off, allowing easy exchange of the pump. (i've done that a few times.)

arcade

I've actually never seen one of those games that wasn't broke. Even at my local arcade. The only chance i had to play it it rebooted and i had to get my money back. How does it compare to fast and the furious etc. It is good looking.

All three of mine are broken. LOL. There are a bunch of technical pain-points with this game (and all games of this era). They used cheapie white-box computers (that they call an Everlast Industrial PC, LOL). These garbage whitebox computers are made from extremely flimsy steel, two that I have look like they were run over by a truck. They have all of the standard issues an arcade cabinet will have (power supply issues, monitor problems, etc.), then stack a cheapie computer on top of it (power supply issues, motherboard capacitor problems, video card (NVidia Ti4200 with its own capacitor issues), bad fans causing overheating problems (on power supply, video cards, and in the computer case), physical damage (as mentioned above, seems to be common in this application), and of course the hard drives failing. This all combines to make a really solid, reliable game.

I like the gameplay, there is a local bowling alley that has one that works. Personally, I think the F&F series is a bit more "arcadey" in its presentation and gameplay, this one feels a bit sterile next to those. I'll tell you more once I've had some real time behind the wheel. :)

Here is a picture of a NFS at the local distributor lol
