I need your help if you have the same problem.

I had on my ''cab'' 2 seimitsus LS-32 clones(chinese Zippy brand)which they worked great, but I decided to replace them with the happ competitions because I like the american style joysticks more,in my country we used to have them also along with the japanese styles.

The joysticks arrived today (from a well known usa vendor)and I succesfully installed them, great feeling,I love them when they re-center,I felt extra hyped.

I played a couple of games like r-type,phoenix,wonderboy,tetris,shinobi until I started playing my favorite fighting,KOF 2002.

Then things went tragic here, I couldnt execute the moves as I want and most of the times the joysticks didnt obey my commands(for the special moves, not the simple movements).I put sf2 turbo, same results, bad executions on special moves
with the seimitsu knockoffs I didnt have that problem, actually I was playing almost perfect with them and had no problems.and I am many years into fighting games, since I was a young boy and have been playing fighting games in arcades in china many times with some serious players there.

So do really competitions suck for fighting games,or am I so stupid that I cant handle them and they just need time to get used to them?

You should have bought the IL Competitions or the Betson Imperial ones.

whats the difference with those nowadays?
my happs dont have the old problems with the bad black actuator,I was aware about it,all newer happs havent got that problem anymore.
so I think they are identical now to IL's or the betson's

i'd recommend putting in either real seimitsu ls-32's or sanwa jlf joysticks if thats what you're comfortable with in fighting games. i can't play fighters on american sticks either. the round gate throws off my execution (harder to hit diagonals), and the harder spring takes way more effort to move the stick. if you stick with it, you'll get better with the american stick. but in my opinion the jap sticks are superior for fighters, no contest.

It really comes down to what your intent is with this machine.

My situation is like this: my competitive hardware utilizes Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. It's what I am most comfortable playing competitively with now days. My Street Fighter machines in my arcade, however, use comps (the IL versions if possible) because that's closest to what I use to play these games on in the arcade. It also helps that I don't have an issue playing on them either (I just have better timing and execution with a good ole' JLF).

So, I mean, what do you want? Something authentic or something you are comfortable/enjoy playing on? It's definitely an individual preference (I am worthless on 360's, for example...but there are people who swear by them). Good luck.

thank you everyone for your replies

I really was fine with my seimitsu clones I had before,I just wanted to change them for cosmetic reasons mostly, because I like the american style. But unfortunately it was a bad decision for my tastes,I play every type of game on mame but I love mostly fighters and here competitions dont work for me as I want.

I would put my seimitsu clones back to my cab,but I promised to give them to a friend to build some custom sticks,so maybe later I will buy again sanwa/seimitsu clones(I dont buy original sanwas and seimitsus because they are ridicusly expensive and their clones work the same)

and by the way,my buttons are standart happ concave and I am very happy with them,I like them much better than convex even for fighters,so joystick will be japanese style(again) and buttons remain in the american style

I like the Betsons better than the Competition joysticks actually. Now those are some smooth joysticks. I prefer those over any others including Sanwa's which I actually have three of sitting in a box. I might put those in my SF2 to throw my friends' game off next time we all get together.

I think that the HAPP/IL style sticks are either you love them or hate them. I have no problems at all doing any move with them. I don't have any problems with the Japanese sticks either, but they always feel like they are about to break, and I hate the default square gates. I feels like that vibrating gorilla game at Chuck E Cheese, totally unpleasant. I always with against the gorilla. :D
