Hey Guys, I've got a beautiful Hantarex 19" monitor with a bad chassis and a good 4600 frame with a recapped, working chassis, but no tube. Is it possible to stick the Hanarex tube into the 4600 frame and chassis? The neck connector is the same, but I would have to change the connector going from the yoke to the chassis. Thanks in advance for your assistance. --Rich

If you are trying to use the Hantarex yoke on a 4600 chassis, I don't think it's going to work - the 4600 yoke is pretty low impedence. Check the resistance of the horizontal and vertical windings in the Hantarex tube, and report back.

Will do. I'm a newbie to tube and yoke swapping so pardon me if I ask some stupid questions. I'm assuming I check the yoke resistance with the ohm meter on my multimeter, correct? Thanks, --Rich

For reference:

My K4600's original coils were 10.9Ω & 3.0Ω. I swapped in a CRT with a yoke having 9.0Ω & 3.2Ω, and it works fine. (Well 95% fine... I need to tweak the value of the width cap 'cause I caaaaan't quite adjust it narrow enough.)

I suppose you could keep the yoke from the original 4600, too. That would make electrical compatibility a non-issue, but may introduce other issues (mis-matched yoke & CRT might not have good geometry). Or you may get lucky. If you try that route, be prepared to adjusting purity and convergence.

Good luck, Rich!

I would have tried switching the yokes if I hadn't thrown it away with the tube in a fit of stupidity. The original 4600 tube suffered broken neck-itis and I threw away the tube and yoke only keeping the frame and chassis. Oops.
