Hi,
I have a hantarex polostar 28" that is blowing the fuse immediately upon power up, I have only just got the machine with the already faulty monitor, the seller said he had no clue but was told it was the lopt, would this be the case ?. I know with a hanty if the lopt goes you should change the hot aswell.
Thanks Mark

I always thought that too. until I encountered a regular Polo that wouldn't fire that was arcing out the top, and that HOT was still good (obviously because it kept trying to start up)

that being said, I've seen about 3 flyback failures on Polos and none blew the fuse. there is a transistor on those that I think is like a voltage regulator or something, that blew the fuse.

I am of course talking about the regular standard res 25" Polo, not the Polostar. but I'm sure they share some design elements.

M K L is the Hantarex master.

Thanks for your input, do you know what transistor it maybe,
I read a post saying the fuse blowing could be the ptc on the degauss circuit, I have removed that and it is still the same.

you could test the diodes after the AC plug too. you'll have to desolder an end out to test however. if it was made for the US market, they supposedly only use 2 diodes instead of 4.

if the Polostar has a "cage", that's the power supply location. on the CGA Polo there's a transistor on the heatsink in there, that's like the voltage regulator or something to that effect. I saw some pretty awesome lightshows when powering that chassis up. :p still to this day I don't know how I deduced that was the problem, it's hard to find information on those.
