I have a Mortal Kombat 2 with a problem with the verticle display. I have had this game for years and this problem started recently. No matter how far I adjust the verticle amp pot, the image is vertically a bit larger than the screen (things at the extreme bottom and top are cut off). Still fully playable, but annoying. I have tried wiggling and resoldering the pot with no change. My best guess is that it's a bad cap, what should I check?

change all the caps. ;)

always change them all, cause you never know which caps will start going bad next. think of it as a preventative maintenance sort of thing. if caps don't get it, then you move onto the next thing.

though, in all honesty, the pots on the remote boards for the Polos are of inferior make and that could be the real problem, but you're probably overdue for caps. you can replace the pot, just make note of the resistance rating, I don't remember the V-amp one right now, that's usually the one that's the pickiest though, it is on my KI. I think I know exactly what you're talking about. it'll either stretch to the point that it looks like ghost images, or it'll just be a horizontal line. getting it just right is a nightmare.

and to think, I had that entire remote board on mine replaced by Chad and it still does it, with new caps too.

Did you ever resolve this issue, on my Polo squished all the way down it is still too tall vertically and the top and bottom are cut off....

I also have a Width issue as the pot does nothing to effect the horizontal size. I checked the pot and cable next is:
T118-BDX53A
T117-BC5588
Possibly D134/D135

Is T117 a typo? I checked on Arcade Parts And Repair and it shows it as a BC556........
