Hi, I'm doing the flyback on a Hantarex Polo 25 and can't figure out how to get the black wire out of the neckboard. I've done others, and they all had little clips or hinged clips, but I don't see how to open this one to get the new wire in (I pulled the old wire out after working it, but need to open this thing up to get the new one in).

There are two little tabs on the back of the thing, but when pushed in, nothin budges. I don't want to start manhandling this, so any hints on how to do this would be appreciated.

I've included a pic of the neckboard so you could see what I was talking about.

Thanks in advance!

Come on! Somebody must have seen this!

I don't want to have to desolder the socket, but it will come to that because I just can't see how this works!

Thanks!

what. you're talking about the focus wire going into the neck socket? that plastic assemblage should actually just lift open, or lift off. never had to do that on a Polo. in fact, that probably explains a lot... the dickheads at PNL actually spliced that wire when they did it.

to top it off, they put the wrong flyback on it too. Chad did it right. and then it died again. he thinks my yoke might be bad. either that or it's a power thing.... not sure.

Yeah, the focus wire... sorry

It's weird. The only ones I've done have been on K7000s and it lifts off pretty easily. This one is a real pain! I have abused it to the point where I'm ready to desolder the whole connector to get a look at how it works. Probably a lot more simple to remove than I'm making it, but I just can't figure it.

I appreciate the response!

let me go pull out this junk 27" chassis I have in a closet.

I'll let you know how it works... maybe.

EDIT: well, I noticed there's a white pushpin in the area where that block is... I can't get it to budge on mine, I can't find my tweezers, I also can't really tell where the hell this thing is supposed to open either.

try the pushpin, see if it releases for you.

Didn't get it

There are two tabs that look like they can be pushed in. I abused them and it won't budge. I'll suck it up and desolder it and post a pic of how it works. Thanks for the legwork on this, I appreciate it.

Might not do it today... But definitely tomorrow after work. The funny part is that it looks like I have the wrong flyback! Maybe not though. I'llhave to see when I take it off.

Anyone have a Hantarex polo neck board that they're not using?

I think I broke the neck socket, and I still can't get it apart to secure the focus wire. It's like jammed together or something. I don't know who might have had this before, but either way, I need to score the CRT socket.

If you have a known dead chassis, or a spare neckboard or god help me a neck socket for a 25 inch Hantarex Polo (other 25 inch Hantarex monitors might share the same socket), let me know. Maybe I can buy it from you?

Thanks!

I'd use a different socket, not another one that you can't get the focus wire into. Most picture tube sockets have the same footprint. You should be able to scavenge one from a junked TV set that has a picture tube with the same diameter neck/pin configuration.

Ok, I have a spare coming in soon

So I'll be good with that one. Thanks for all your help!

I still don't know how it comes apart. Since I have a spare coming in, I'll maybe bust this socket apart to see how it ticks. I think it's just insert something into the only two tabs you can see and it should come apart. I think there was just something specifically wrong with this one.

Live and learn!

it's ok, that junk one I have didn't budge either.

if one man knows though, it would be Chad Entriger!

man... i'm dealing with this same exact issue right now! These sockets are the pits! Did you ever figure out how to open yours?

I have a spare socket from a WG4600 neck board, would that work for a swap? These Polo neck boards seem to have 2 different sets of socket pin openings, so I guess I'd have to solder the bridges to them for continuity?

No, I don't think 4600 neckboard will fit. sockets are different sizes like I'd thought, but also the individual pin sockets seem larger on the 4600.... gotta get this thing open!
