I have a Hantarex Polo 28" made in Italy (for the Italian market). It is rated 230V. I'm the US (110V).

What is the recommended approach to power the monitor with a 110v source? There is currently no isolation transformer in the original Italian cabinet either and my online research resulted in several contradictions:

.Iso transformer needed vs no-needed
.Monitor is dual voltage vs single voltage
.Use a jumper across 'p105' in order to switch to 110v mode.

In any case, adding an iso transformer is probably a good idea.

Please advise.

To convert a European Polo to 110V you need to:

- remove D102 and D104 (the middle ones in the diode bridge array).
- set jumper P105.
- remove C107 and put C106 and C108 (both 470uF 200V).
- replace the line filter L110 (2x40mH) with one rated 2x5mH.

If you cannot find the line filter I think you can leave the old one.

ISO transformer is not needed.

Wrong footprint. Neither will fit the PCB. You need to find one that fits either the smaller or the larger profile:

No because even if you got it to fit the chassis (which would require drilling new holes in the PCB), the windings would be the wrong way: according to the drawing in the link they're 1-3 and 6-4 while they should be 1-6 and 3-4 to work.

1. Even when rotated 90 degrees (attached)?

2. Will 4,5 mH work?

Thanks!

I will keep looking then.

Just to be clear, they do fit the inner pins, but you are saying that it can only be '1-6 & 3-4' to work. and not '3-4 & 1-6' [OR] '6-1 & 4-3' (as attached). Just waned to make sure I understand this for my search.

I now see that the longer side is 15mm and not 18.95mm (as I thought) so yes it does fit. The two coils that make the filter must be connected like this though:

Not like this (which is what that filter does according to the info in the link):

Maybe it's possible to rewire the filter.

The coils are wired correctly on that and you can widen the holes to gain that millimeter that will allow you to accomodate the coil BUT since it's pretty big (36x24.5mm) you'll have to relocate R102 on the underside of the board because it's in the way.

Yes, I will relocate the resistance(s).

Can you confirm this diagram (while I wait for the parts):

BTW Should I also change the fuse? What value do you recommend for 110V?

Good job! Glad I could help.

It's weird to see a Nevada cab (which is a generic Jamma cab for the Italian market) in the US.

Yes, It's my favorite Jamma cab! Great Italian design, big screen and super easy to rotate! I'm doing a full restoration including CP, etc.. BTW Do you know where can I buy translucent Edierre buttons 07/TR?

I don't know of any shops that carry their products and buying directly from them is very difficult. I've heard the minimum order is 250 euros...

Yes, too bad they are not interested in selling to their fans. Again thanks for all the help!
