Hantarex Polo 25 white screen issue - video included - Solved!

I have been rebuilding the Polo in my Revolution X and have done the following:

Cap Kit
New flyback
Replaced most all of the transistors
Replaced any burnt resistors

The monitor originally just had the HV shutdown clicking, but now comes up with just a white screen. I have tested the voltage to the LM chip on the neck and get 11.76V. I have ordered a couple spares, but in the mean time wondered if there was anything else I could check. Please check out the short video which shows the issue.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

I had a couple monitors that used that LM120 chip on the neck... it went bad and a white screen appeared.

That IC seems to be very flakey and craps out easily... I always socket the board, when i get one that uses that chip, so i can swap out easily.

Check R40 on the neckboard and R234 on the chassis ( next to the flyback) Both are 10 ohm. If they are good look at D137

I checked R40 and sure enough it was open. I replaced it with one I had on hand (a 10ohm 1/4w resistor) and it worked!

Monitor now has a very nice picture, and all adjustments work. The only issue now is it seems to be constantly degaussing. Like the picture will be in perfect focus and slowly go out of focus, and after like 5 seconds it will make a bzzt noise, like degaussing, and be back in perfect focus. It will do that over and over again.

Any ideas on that? Also, can I use 2 1/4W resistors together to make up for not having a 1/2w now, or should I just keep it shut down until I get the 1/2W resistor?

THANKS SO MUCH for your help.

R40 should be 10 Ohm 1/2 W flameproof.

Not sure on the other problem. Double check the solder joints on the flyback.

Thanks again. The focus issue turned out to be a bad connection on my focus wire. Fixed that now. All looking good for the moment.

No Problem. I've seen that white screen on the Polo's a few times and it has always been one of those 2 resistors. They are a great monitor when they are working.

This thread helped me out too. White screen..... changed R40 and it was good to go. Hantarex monitors in my opinion too...... are great looking when they are running.
